Who will the next coach be as Tony Pyland steps down to take the job at North Iredell. Hope they can find a program builder and bring the Warriors back to being competitive.
Hope the administration at West takes there time and gets it right.

Chip English had it headed in the right direction with seasons of 4-7 - 7-6 - 10-3 and then left for Alabama and it’s been terrible ever since.

Be interesting to see who they bring in next but I have no confidence in the administration at West to hire a proven coach that can build this program. Can only hope they take the time and get the right person. This football program has suffered for to long. The right coach can build a good program they have athletes at West and maybe with the right hire players will hang around to be part of the rebuild.

I would imagine their options are not going to be great. Their best bet may be to hire the best young coach who is wanting to move up they can find.

Is it a place where coaches go to Die? Young coach takes job, doesn’t win, never gets another opportunity to be a head coach again?

It's high risk job lol. They had longest losing streak in NC until last season. Even leaving coach didn't get a good job with North iredell. It was bare minimum of a step up

How’s it a high risk job name one good coach they have had since Chip English who had turned it around left for Alabama. The problem has been the coach’s they are hiring. They don’t know how to block and have no discipline that comes from coaching. I don’t know who has applied in the past and that may be the problem but Mike Biggerstaff built a good program at West and it’s never been the same after his departure. And how would the coach that left get a good job when he was like 10-80

not knocking coach English but he came at great time and got a good group of kids that had won at every level, those types of athletes are not walking the halls of west right now prime example look at basketball we’re struggling to get players for that. People on the outside thinks it’s the same West Caldwell but unfortunately it’s not right now. With that being said I hope they make a good hire with the understanding it will take 6 or more years to get things moving in the right direction. To be honest they might not be a winning program in the whole school next year.

It's high risk because If a young coach takes the job and kids still don't perform. He sets his career back years. Pyland had the best season West Caldwell, has had in maybe 7 years. And he was able to make almost parallel jump to another program.

Pyland won 2 games one against Avery County which won 1 game all year and Patton which won 1 game all year. That’s nothing to brag about. The problem has been the caliber of coaches they are hiring maybe that’s all they can get if so that’s sad. And Monte Simmons was 3-4 in 20-21 so he had the best year of the last 7.
Also Elan Lipford left West after his freshman year and went to Independence and came back and went to Hibriten instead of West because of coaching. The administrations choice’s in a coach have not been good but I don’t know who has applied the last several years.

Still coach English teach them to block and tackle he was not real good on discipline. And I agree he had a good group of kids. They are talent at West but when you keep hiring coaches that are not very good all the talent is going across town. And the hiring of Tony Pyland that had a record of like 9-79 how smart was that. Now they are losing basketball talent because of there bad choices in the hiring of a football coach. I think one of the problems and maybe the biggest problem is the continuous bad Administrations at West but I could be wrong.

West Caldwell has more potential to win more football games than North Iredell. If they can keep their athletes in their District. Currently North Iredell feeder program doesn't look very promising at all. And its a tough place to Coach.

The administration at West may need an overhaul they continuous make bad decisions. The community needs to step up and hold this administration accountable for there bad decisions. The coaching issue of a football coach has went on way too long bad hire after bad hire. The right coach is out there and they need to do everything they can to find him.
