California has an economic Nexus.

Once you “conduct business” over a certain number of days, they levy a tax on you.

And in some cases, the taxes based on your entire salary or revenue over the course of the year. Which is why it was a loss for some of the players, because the 7 days they were there put them over the time threshold for the yearly Nexus.

Our company quit doing trade shows in California because of this. That’s one of the reasons that many of major trade shows have moved to Las Vegas

Some truth to That. Hard to feel bad for anyone making $30+ million per year.
He’s getting paid $30 million per year because millions of people watch him play football. The fact that the winning QB from the Super Bowl lost money while 125 million people watched the game and a commercial costs $8 million due to the game being played in California is ridiculous. I’d rather him get paid than the NFL.

Annex all of California as it's own country with the exception of Napa and Sonoma.

Are we sure he lost money? You should take a look into the prop bet of how many rushing yards Sam Darnold would have, and then watch what Sam does at the end of the game while they are up big with like 2 minutes left to play.

Angry airport ate up with politics.
Nope, thought it was just crazy that he would lose more than the entire bonus for winning the SB. Found it more interesting than two people walking around The Greenbrier.

Absolutely ridiculous but it's not that big of a deal for Darnold. Guys getting the real shaft would be the practice squad guys who got elevated or league minimum guys. No, that's certainly nothing to spit on but you see guys making rookie minimum and get fined for a hit (there's some REALLY questionable fines in this department IMO) and it's basically the entire weeks check. Seattle had 2 guys get elevated up off of the practice squad this week, they'd have lost money too if it goes like this on the bonus.

Is Calif going to pass the 5% wealth tax or has the threat of so many billionaires leaving put the brakes on it for now?
I mean I think we should hang billionaires from bridges, so I'm prob the wrong person the ask.

Related to the thread tho, I'd put it next to 0% that Sam will actually pay this. The NFL or team will eat it themselves unless they're dumb af.

Yes, shame on him for working extremely hard everyday since he was a little boy to get where he is....
That low life millionaire..
Cracks me up how the thousand-aires are always so quick to throw themselves in with the millionaires and come to their defense like they have anything in common with them.

You don’t want to lose CA’s tax base. You’d have to fold WV, AL and MS. They fork over $800 Bill a year to the federal government. I’m sure they’d be more than happy to keep all that in house.

First, if the team pays it, it’s still income and Calif will tax that, if they can prove it. I’ve been to Calif in 1989, absolutely gorgeous.

Once ICE starts removing illegals, the number is going down even further. How hard is it to rent a uhaul now?
The number isn't going down. It's back up above the ~1% pandemic dip.
