https://www.wired.com/story/bad-bunny-super-bowl-halftime-show-behind-the-scenes/

“(Producer) Bruce Rodgers notes that a lot of the statements Bad Bunny wanted to make about inclusiveness around the show were made with the teaser he released last month. “It’s a really (fvc&!ng) cool message,” Rodgers says. “I think he knows that people are going to make news out of whatever he does; the illuminati guys on YouTube will make illuminati stories,” so the point was to keep the show’s message straightforward. Bad Bunny performed in Spanish. Fans danced. More than 100 million people watched. Then the game resumed, and the internet got flooded with commentary and hot takes.

Several folks on X seemed to think Bad Bunny’s “Ocasio” jersey was for US representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rather than the artist’s last name. Others, meanwhile, noted that Bad Bunny was the only one performing well at the Super Bowl given the relatively low score at halftime (the Patriots ended the half without scoring a single point).”

ITT I learned:
  1. 67% weren’t planning on watching the halftime show for various reasons.
  2. 33% were planning to watch for various reasons.
  3. The fringe of both political viewpoints make real conversation impossible with the made-up narratives, name calling, and general talking down to each other like they’re idiots.
  4. Social media has nurtured derangement syndrome on both sides.
  5. Some Christians don’t “do unto others” like Jesus said to do.
  6. Some atheists/agnostic like to mock Christians.
  7. Bad Bunny is wildly popular internationally.
  8. Bad Bunny is wildly unpopular amongst TI subscribers
  9. Did I mention people from both sides of the political and social aisles seem very mean and hateful to people who don’t believe like they do?

Just the lunatic fringe we all desire to entertain us. Somebody should leave him a pistol in the green room and dare him to put himself out of his misery

Yikes man. This is far too much …

I’m all for being passionate about beliefs but I’m also for having different opinions without hate or wishing others to kill themselves.

The halftime show shouldn’t be THAT serious

Entertaining read but 250 or so posts of people ranting about how the choice of halftime Super Bowl performer not being for them is a microcosm of our society. Good Lord people, not everything produced is made for you and that’s ok. I don’t know any Bad Bunny songs but I also realize I’m not the target audience. I also lean right. But you know what else I am? Someone who realizes that not everything is made for my personal entertainment and someone who realizes that’s perfectly OK. The NFL is a pretty well run business. They don’t make many emotionally rash decisions that are bad for their bottom line. Hell I don’t even think they pay the halftime performer.

The performer gets about $2,000 give or take, plus production costs covered

He wore a big suit combined with a football jersey lol. As masculine as it gets buddy
You act like that changes the fact that he does wear dresses and is into woman’s fashion. GTFOH and the big shoulder absolutely looked like a 1990’s women’s suit with shoulder pads.

We will break the record with this one. 50 page minimum and we are going to break Penny Stocks thread, finally.

I dont really have a dog in this fight because if I criticize an artist for what they do, it's fair game to dog pile me. But frack all that. I'm tired of the NFL insisting on featuring artists that 80% of the human population most likely despises. These half time shows are a freaking joke.

The SB 60 halftime show at freaking SF should feature non other than at least Dead and Co, Phish, WSP, Goose, Govt Mule, String Cheese, that whole sector of music. These artists treated SF as their second home over the decades.

but no, there is some dude from Puerto Rico that the NFL deems as appropriate. Because he's LaaaaaaaaaTiiiiiin and has great dance moves and number one YouTube bs whatever of all time. Guess what, I have not heard 5 seconds of this idiot. Barely know who he is. What a dumbass name.

Id rather have Rico Suave, Enrique or Ricky Martin sing for us than this one bong hit wonder. What a fruit job. I saw the interview before the game. I have given this character zero research other than nonsense hype I have to navigate around while consuming news.

Y'all know what Fred Sanford would say about some low rent leisure suit Lorenzo from Puerto Rico.

Who, the guy who allegedly took showers with his teen daughter?
Nah, that was our supposed previous Scranton POTUS. Then we got the Clinton’s involved in Epstein.
Listen to how ignorant you sound, man.

You mention the Clintons being involved with Epstein. They are literally telling Congress to bring them in for PUBLIC hearings and the ***** Republican pedo protectors won't do it. Use your six brains cells and ask yourself why Trump suddenly started talking last week about how much he likes Bill Clinton. Even a simpleton should be able to suss it out...

Your hero is mentioned 38,000 times in the Epstein Files so far...

Makes sense. It’s a way for the performer to grow their brand by having a short concert in front of a hundred million people who would otherwise be very unlikely to see them. It’s a way for the NFL to target audiences who wouldn’t have turned in for simply a football game. I’m shocked it’s not some huge international star or a pop diva every year.

I don’t know much about Bad Bunny but it’s pretty clear he’s globally recognized. It would be dumb for an organization with a clear goal of global growth to not partner with him especially given the cheap cost. Anyone who doesn’t understand that is letting their love of team politics get in the way of whatever common sense they may have remaining

Did the adult thing and attempted to see the show for myself. The Bad Bunny show was challenging in that as expected, it was not in my native tongue. The use of Latino dancers willing to show their crotch and booty was an interesting approach, the Bunny himself grabbing his crotch a la Michael Jackson.

After 2 songs I was tired of Latino women slapping their butts and attempted to find the Turning Point show. I finally found the live stream on YouTube, and saw a heavy set Lee Brice. Then Ritchie came out and lip singed his hit, Bawitdaba. After the song a strange 2 person string chamber music duo played where the cello player looked like Captain Beefheart and the gal was a pretty married violinist.

Then Ritchie came out and sang a nice country cover, it seemed to be dragging so I went back to the game and saw I'd missed the first 3 minutes of the 2nd half.

In my opinion, Bad Bunny is a bit off the mark as the lead for the Super Bowl, but I'm sure some people like him. The other alternative was better for me musically, but the show seemed a little too scripted.

Bottom line, halftime was a bust.

I was at Clemson when the album was released and saw that tour when it was in Duluth, what an incredible show and album
first time i saw them was at when i was at Clemson and they were the OPENER on the mainstage at Lollapalooza. Had about 20 minutes to fly through songs from Dookie. Have seen them many, many times in the years since and was able to catch the American Idiot tour as well.

American Idiot is still one of my favorite albums. The one-two punch they pulled with American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown took them way beyond where I thought they could ever go as a band, and I loved them already before those two albums.

TPUSA is reporting at least 20 million views for their halftime show and maybe twice that much when all the numbers are in.

This is a disaster for the NFL. The game itself was a Super Bore when no touchdowns after 3 quarters. Might as well been a soccer game. Then you put on this abomination of a halftime show where 20 million leave your channel for another show and probably just as many leave to go do something else. No star power as far as a QB or RB anyone would want to see and add in no name coaches and the rating probably crashed.

If I spend millions to put on ads right before and after the halftime I would ask for a refund of a large part of that.

Hey guys. I watched the halftime show, but I missed the part where Bad Bunny wore a dress, as well as all the trans propaganda and anti American messaging I was told would be part of the show. Can one of the TI experts point me towards the part of the performance where all that happened?

I think it’s obvious that I’m a huge fan of many of the bands you mentioned, but if you think for one second that the masses who watch the Super Bowl are going to be jazzed about Phish, any Dead variant, Panic, etc., then you may want to lay off the durgz. Not happening. Super Bowl is for mainstream - period.

Although I would pay a **** ton of $ to watch Phish play ‘Meatstick’ at the Super Bowl even if only to see the social media reactions. Can you imagine this board? Probably have a decent number who would think it’s an LGBTQ conspiracy.

Woah - no name coaches?? Vrabel and Macdonald are great… but I’m a bit too close to have an unbiased opinion the latter

The Macdonald family are very proud Americans fwiw - very military friendly!

Since we have a lot on here singing the praises of the halftime show I just watched it on youtube to see whats up.

- I liked the part with Lady Gaga. I could understand the language and well performed.
- Bunny spent quite a bit of time grabbing and basically massaging his own crotch. Not appropriate for TV where kids are watching.
- The show in regards to the visuals and all was very average for a super bowl.
- There were pretty women dancing but thats the case in every super bowl.
- The rhythm was very average. I honestly like the music that I hear in the average mexican restaurant we go to better than this.
- No idea what he was singing. His singing even in spanish seems very average....almost like hes rapping in spanish. Im not into most rap admittedly even of the english type.
- I of course watched the TPUSA show and even without the huge supporting cast it was better on the music level than the super bowl show.

No hating here. Just an honest analysis.
