Cytown is a white elephant. The place will be a ghost town in the spring and summers. Hey honey let’s do a weekend in Ames this summer and stay a cytown far away from anything interesting
I agree. Does anyone know what Iowa State is going to do come July when it hits its new fiscal year and they run out of reserves. They don't have enough to cut to make up the difference between their budget and their cash flow.

He got a few, but not nearly enough to replace all the starters & top back-ups that bailed for Penn St.
I stand corrected. I suppose I could follow clown football closer but, naah, I'm busy enough. I have to take the trash can out to the curb, feed the dog, get the snow blower for the driveway...

You mean last 2 in football? 😜 Enjoy it while you can. Matt Campbell leaving and taking everyone with him (the good ones anyway… the rest just left because it’s, well, Iowa State) was the death blow to Iowa State football. Back to being average in an already below average(and falling) conference for you guys. 🤣
Most of the "Good Ones" you speak of had serious knee injuries towards the end of the season. Rocco had shoulder surgery after the season. They could all be ready to go next fall, but that is being optimistic. What is crazy is that Ped State went ahead with large NIL payments to all of them.
Rocco played 4 years and graduated at ISU, he is a cyclone. I think he would have tried the NFL draft, but knew he wouldn't be ready by then. So he took the 2.5 mil from Ped State until next December.

My guess is that their only realistic option is to "borrow" from the university. Given their financial trajectory, I suspect it never gets paid back.

This is the pot calling the kettle black. Iowa athletic dept. borrowed $50 million from the university that will never get paid back.
False. Don’t let facts get in the way of your false narrative. Took me all of 2 min to find this among several other articles.

“The terms of the loan are a 15-year repayment schedule with the interest rate repriced every five years. There is no penalty for early repayment. Interest has eaten up most of what the athletic department has repaid.

The University of Iowa athletic department has reported record revenues for four consecutive years, with the latest figures for fiscal year 2025 reaching $153.2 million. These record revenues are driven primarily by a significant increase in Big Ten Conference distributions and exceptional ticket sales performance in football and women’s basketball.

A major boost came from increased conference distributions, with actual revenue received in FY 2025 being nearly $77 million, exceeding the budgeted $75.2 million. Projections for FY 2026 anticipate another spike to $82.7 million.

The department’s financial performance has surged well beyond pre-pandemic levels, bouncing back strongly from the deficits faced during the COVID-19 restrictions.”

That tiny little string you are hanging onto is starting to fray. I appreciate your dedication to your cause. Your lack of finance knowledge makes me feel smarter so I appreciate that out of you as well. As long as you are around I know I won’t be last.

It is being paid back.....in fact this past year a bunch was paid back and we still showed a $6 million surplus.

Why will it take 15 years to pay back the money is the department is so loaded with cash?

It’s cute how ISU fans try to talk about Iowa’s athletics finances in a disparaging way…when their own department won’t even be able to max out revenue sharing in another year. Simply put, they’re going to struggle mightily to be competitive in football and it’s a problem that won’t ever go away. Meanwhile, Iowa continues to bring in record revenue.

Clown U has some major financial problems, that's for sure. No wonder Matt Campbell wanted the hell out.

This thread discussed those issues:

Why do you take a 15-30 mortgage on your house? Why do you get 3-4 year plans for your vehicle? Why does it take years to pay off student loans do drs? When you think about it, it’s not really a tough concept to grasp.
Clone fans keep harping on the loan (which is a non-issue). They ignore the fact their football program is imploding and the athletic department is about to run out of money.

The start of Cornich winning, started a pattern
Hindsight being what it is, none of those contracts ever ended up hurting us. Yes, for the first year or 2 of each contract, the salary number was pretty high, but the "average" over the length of each contract ended up being pretty fair for both sides given the success KF's had. Especially now, with coaches making upwards of $12M, KF's $7M seems like a bargain. Hell, Matt Rhule, who is 2-22 all time against ranked teams and hasn't done jacksquat at Nebraska is making $8.5M this year and is expected to make $11M in the next couple of years with a $71M buyout. Those are the numbers that sink athletic departments in this age of rev share.

Woof. Will those forever loyal and true fans fill that stadium for every home game?

We are contracted to play Clown U thru 2027.

I really hope we don't schedule them after that; THEY NEED us every other year to fill their stadium at crazy ticket prices. Screw that.

Let that program sink into the FCS abyss as far as I am concerned....
