Our average meet score is 194.804, and according to a website that tracks these types of stats (which is linked from the NCAA website), we are ranked #40 now in average team score.
Our next opponent (Iowa) is ranked #22 with an average meet score of 196.138. By way of comparison, our HIGHEST score of the year was the 196.175 we posted against Maryland this past weekend.
For those in the know and follow the program, what is the opinion now of Coach Candia - a keeper, the jury's still out, or they should have reached higher? I ask because there were some that thought she was totally unqualified when picked, but the results seem pretty good to this outsider
Complete embarrassment that we hired her. She was not qualified to be an associate HC at any other school in the B1G. She carried the momentum from Umme and back doored their way into regionals on the last meet of the year last season and Poindexter interim AD gives her a 5 year contract. It's not impressive to make regionals when you are a power 2 program, have a fantastic facility and compete in the RAC. It's a bare minimum expectation.
Beyond maddening.
Have spoken to a few letter winners at meets who feel the same way.
I hope she does well and if their staff is reading this then prove me wrong, but that was textbook Rutgers hiring her. It's basically like when football hired Flood.
Updated standings. Us and Illinois are the only Power 2 schools not in the cut to make regionals. Currently ranked 42. We need to be 36 or better. Team continues to absolutely bomb on beam. Hope they get it together. Top 36 = making the Yankee Bowl.
