Wow, you watched the whole game. I'm impressed. Now that the season is virtually over, I pay specific attention to the way the offense, or lack thereof, runs with and without JMike on the floor, and it runs better with him on the floor. OK, he doesn't score much. He doesn't shoot much either, but he is shooting better from 3 than Francis. He's got more assists, more rebounds, more steals, and fewer turnovers than Francis in about the same about of minutes - AND HE'S A BETTER DEFENSIVE PLAYER who is constantly given a tougher defensive assignment than Francis. That's a lot of things for a guard to be better at, especially a point guard. Look beyond the points. I'm not saying JMike is great and Francis not so much, just that Francis is overrated as much as JMike is underrated.

I follow the score updates, but I stopped watching several games ago...right back to when Jordan was coach, and times with FHJ and Waters...

Funny thing - as bad as JMike is according to most here, he plays more minutes per game than Francis. Pike must see a little more overall value in him.

Turnovers and failure to defend the post doomed us today. Nebraska runs the absolute best sets with non stop movement and I thought our guys did a great job for once limiting the 3 point uncontested shots .They were busting their ***. But they never defended the post and Mast bailed them out all day long. When they actually missed shots they got offensive rebounds , which were unconscionable and very deflating after a good defensive possession. The costly mostly unforced turnovers after the first 6-7 minutes , led to 15 points off turnovers which ended up very costly. The lack of offense or defense out of the 5 position is absolutely killing us. Dorsch hustled but did not score and Manny with a rare move for a flush got 2 whole points. Plus neither has rebounded great especially on the defensive end after forcing a shot.
I know the season is a lost cause but I actually liked what we did on offense today when we didn’t turn it over. Powers, Zrno , Francis , and Buchanan first half each scored off of good sets and screens and ball movement . Dylan another subpar performance and JMike just not helping this team . He used to be disruptive on defense and hasn’t defended any guard he had played in the Big 10 all year. Hardly ever gets a stop , gets drive by routinely and doesn’t deflect enough passes or force pressure on the other team’s point guard so they cannot run their offense so easily
. I really liked Pije trying to get his best offensive team with shooters , Powers , Zrno , Francis , Buchanan and Grant on the floor. Got good offense but defense suffered. Dylan has gone so far backwards defensively and on the glass it is puzzling. Manny and Dorsch could not slow down Mast , who was struggling and hurt coming into the game for the last 4 games. Pike tried Buchanan and Grant up front and although Buchanan tried , he couldn’t handle him either. Dylan either not defending or not boxing out giving up easy rebounds. If there is a silver lining in this lost season , Pike actually over the last 5/6 games embracing setting up and launching more 3 ‘s. Powers against UCLA was terrific in the first half and if UCLA did not put up 52 points mostly against air , that game is tied at the half. The most atrocious defensive half and game in general you will ever see. . Zrno and Francis and Grant can hit 3’s and Francis ‘ mid range game which Powers and Buchanan both have can score. Francis shooting 47% from mid range leading the country. It is mostly negative and another dreadful loss but there is improvement offensively but unfortunately the defense is getting worse.
