But but...he had a contract and contracts can't be broken!

Anyway, I don't blame these guys.

That new DC is hoping that he got a winning lotto ticket, I get it. One good year as DC at NU can either get him a fat extension or a job at a school with a coach that isn't Rhule.

These other guys are leaving while they have the chance because they know how lame Rhule is as a coach. I know we still have our Ride or Die Rhule lovers here, which is great and I hope they win all their games this year, but more than likely Rhule is donezo and if the AD is smart, which I assume he is, he is already sniffing around.

We actually don’t know if he had signed his contract with NU yet. Lots of these guys are delaying signing their deals until all the dust settles. That said, an assistant’s contract is a LOT different than a head coach’s. A safeties coach can leave pretty much any time just by giving his notice especially if he’s changing leagues.

I know, I was just messing with that dude that says no contract can ever be broken.

Most contracts can be broken. The difference is the amount of compensation to the other party if you break it. Then with sports teams operating within a league or conference structure there can be other restrictions beyond strict financial considerations. Some people don’t mind legal entanglements. The rest of us avoid them at all costs.

Dude, I know that and you know that. I thought EVERYONE knew that.

With that said, I still can't break my gym membership contract. Literally ironclad.

Our AD has to be one of the dumbest to ever take the position. Got conned by Rhule's agent and then extended his already bullsnit contract. Now, we are stuck until we fire both morons.

Can't wait.. gonna be great.

Great tee shirt idea, btw. 👍

NFL coaches don't develop players. Players come developed already. Look at the defense & d-line last year. NFL coaches come in and don't develop, say we need better players.

This is why select coaches hate coaching...they just want "ready made players"

Oh you can break it. Go piss in the weight room and see what happens. You’ll still owe them the money AND probably the State of Nebraska a hefty fine and some community service.

Soooo where do we go for a safeties coach.? Do we really need 3-4 guys coaching DBs. Couldn’t one of our DC’s former players proficient in his system step in for this year? It’s not rocket science.

Isn't that how nearly every young coach gets their start? Some succeed some don't

In general, I don’t really like hiring NFL guys. Especially guys that are just an assistant to the assistant to the guy actually in charge. We just fired our OL, DC and DL coach that we hired from that kind of situation.

At this point it feels like its take what you can get in regards to MR hiring coaches..... dark days to say the least.

Then this guy doesn't fit that mold. Since 2009 he has exactly 3 years of NFL experience, the rest at the collegiate level.

I know, I read his bio. The mold still fits. We did in fact hire him from the NFL. He will bring zero players with him. He hasn’t been trusted to be in charge of anything for 3 years. Just like Raiola when we hired him from the Chicago Bears.

A waterboy for the Eagles head coach? I was puzzled when I saw this. Then I noticed he coached at Temple. Now it makes sense to me.

This guy coached with Aurich at Idaho in ‘22. They had a nice D on a very good team. I agree the db coach typically should be be an ace recruiter. I will wait and see. I wasn’t over the moon when I heard it ~ but 🤷‍♂️…. Seems like another unknown

So this guy forgot how to coach college football because he was a defensive assistant in the NFL for 3 years? That has to be one of the most ridiculous statements. The guy coached and played with Aurich, no one had any prior relationship with Raiola, Butler or Bradden. Those guys didn't work out but the majority of their coaching careers were in the NFL, this guy had one NFL job and has experience as a DC at the collegiate level. Nothing at all the same.

Even if he had players to bring, he couldn’t bring them with him now.

Temple is not the connection Iowa boy. Nice try though
Rhule wasn't there when he was. Yeah I get it. He was a coach at Temple like I stated. There always has to be some kind of Temple link for Matt. Did you read that right homer? What are you going to do when Matt is canned in 11 months? Matt gonna turn it around in year four? Props for being positive I guess.

Rhule won’t be fired after this yaar - regardless of whether he deserves to be.
