In watching replays of last season’s playoff games and the BC and NW regular-season games, I have really developed an appreciation for Chloe Humphrey’s skill levels.

First, when she doesn’t have the ball she is always moving. She uses teammates and opponents to screen defenders — I think it is almost impossible to deny her the ball.

Secondly, a tribute to her dogged workout regimen — she catches everything. If a pass is catchable, she will catch it. If you watch closely, it’s a skill that she excels at better than other players.

It’s not as if she doesn’t get enough recognition … but she deserves it because of the effort she has put into the game. (I get a kick out of this story … she is four years younger than Nicole and three years younger than Ashley. When she was too young to practice with them, when they were playing in the back yard, they would see Chloe watching out the window. When the older sisters went inside she would go out by herself and practice what she had seen them doing.)

I believe this is correct — Chloe talked her dad into building a practice facility in the garage. Apparently Nicole’s bedroom is over the garage — she would have to call her mom to make Chloe stop practicing at night.
Generational player in every sense of the word. She just operates at such an elite level on every aspect of her game. Havn't seen a player like that since maybe Kayla Treanor.

Kleizater CH is a generational talent. We have never seen a player like her, period. Kayla Treanor did not do what she did as a freshmen. Heck, there is never been a freshman, the key word as freshman, accomplish what she did last year, both on the collegiate level and well as on the world stage level for the US. I thought Charlotte North and Jamie Ortega were suppose to be one of the greats, her and Ortega did not do what CC did as a freshmen, plus on the world stage, playing against some of the greatest lacrosse players in the world, She was killing them and she made the all world team this summer. Again, Kayla Treanor did not accomplish this feat as a freshmen. It is just like Caleb Wilson is doing in Men's basketball as a freshmen. He has already broken the most double double in a season for freshmen in UNC history. He also broke Tyler H's record for the most 20 point games as a freshman in a season and the season is not over yet. We are just in the middle of the season. CW and CH are doings things on the lacrosse field and basketball court that is surpassing the greats they played at UNC in both of those sports. As I stated before, CH and AH brought a lot of attention to women's lacrosse last year. Those two sisters were doing things that would make you say, "wow" How in the world did they do this along with the other players like SF, BWW, CC, BN, KL, AP, MW, EO, etc. They made me fall in love with women's lacrosse. It was much watch tv for me. I could not wait to see them play the next game. Heck, I even bought me a CH shirt to help with her NIL deal.

USA Lacrosse has counted down to #4 Florida, which the Heels host in Chapel Hill on March 17. Boston College is #3 and will be posted on Wednesday, while #2 Northwestern will post on Thursday.

Here’s Florida:
Just confirming that UofF has lost Monaco: their top returner in points and Preseason A-A

Hate this for Eva. And I hate it for UNC fans — it’ll be so disappointing not to see her on the field this year. As a freshman, she had four hat tricks in her first five games against stiff competition — JMU, Florida, Virginia and High Point. Against Virginia, one of her goals was the game winner in OT.

Best of luck in your recovery, Eva!

I think the weather had something to do with that. I am sure he will post it once it is done.

UNC opener is scheduled for 12:00 Saturday in Harrisonburg. Weather possibly a problem? Forecast calls for high of 18 degrees, low of 9..

still think they start the season FAAR too early these days. It’s kinda silly. ‘Cuse used to say they hadn’t even practiced full-field until March. That was hard to believe though, even if ‘Cuse often looked a little shakier than most other teams in early season (even if they did beat the Heels some then).

Five UNC women’s games to be broadcast on the ACC Network or on ESPNU — it’s a very appealing game selection:

@Syracuse 2/13 ACCN
Boston College 3/21 ACCN
Northwestern 3/25 ESPNU
@Virginia 4/3 ACCN 4/3
Stanford 4/10 ESPNU

Of course, other games will be broadcast on ACCNX and ESPN+.

Someone had already posted this earlier. Stanford is number 6 in the rankings. It came out when they previewed each team based on their rankings on IL. Thanks though.

Interesting - this is a brand new Inside Lacrosse article posted for the first time today (Feb 4)

The article you reference was from USA Lacrosse Magazine.

I received an email stating that the JMU game had moved to Friday at 3 pm. The forecast is 28 degrees with snow showers.
Wow - still cold, but better than a high of 18 degrees. Fortunately, we have a lot of players from the northeast who have undoubtedly played in these conditions.

GO HEELS!

The interview with Jenny Levy is posted. It deals primarily with Coach Levy’s philosophy of coaching.

There is very little player-specific discussion. Chloe Humphrey is of course discussed, and Coach says she is the best player she has seen. She said Eliza Osburn has improved a lot. She indicated that Ashley Humphrey will be very hard to replace tactically and for her leadership.

There was discussion about the offense vs. defense; at this juncture of the season the offense is ahead of the defense. She likes the leadership on this team. At the close of the interview, she said she loves this team.

She noted in passing that the offense will be very aggressive defensively. No mention of injuries, freshmen or starting lineups.

GO HEELS!

The 2016 discussion was interesting to me given how things all matched up and to talk to Levy and Breschi about it was cool.

We will have more with women's lacrosse in the week's ahead that may satisfy lacking areas in this one airball pointed out. I tend to lean toward not getting into specific players/lineups/details in pre-season interviews for obvious reasons (to me at least).

Levy and crew are great. Should be an interesting season. The fact they've not been to a Final Four after winning it all is something to watch this season....and she pointed that out first.

@airball feel free to DM me or email me with direct questions on the boards.....they get buried and I don't always see them. JRiv answered correctly on the delay getting this posted.....and I didn't want to get it buried by other sport news that's been going on....

Thanks, Tommy and Greg. I thought the interview was very interesting. Coach Levy is a really good interview. Her program has gotten stronger since she won her first national championship in and continues to improve, especially in recruiting (this season’s senior class is the first of six consecutive stellar recruiting classes).

The development of last year’s freshman class was really impressive and it was the key to the team’s late season growth that culminated in the ACC and national championships. She and her staff richly deserved their selection as the best coaching staff in the country.

Thanks, again.

So in an article published today, four Inside Lacrosse staff members predict the women’s Final Four, the national champion and the Tewaaraton winner.

All four predict Carolina to be in the Final Four, but … only one predicts UNC to win the national championship and one picked Chloe H to win the Tewaaraton. Here’s the article:

A poster on Fanlax perfectly captured my thoughts:
“All“ I could think is UNC finally has some bulletin board material and maybe another check to cash.”

IL-Women posted a very good article on this weekend’s games:

Here’s first of five items — which relates to UNC:
1. What does a title defense actually look like for UNC?
North Carolina put together a perfect season last year, culminating in its first national title since 2022. Entering 2026 as the preseason No. 1 team, the Tar Heels know there’s a target on their backs as they begin the quest to repeat. Familiarity marks the start of that journey, as UNC opens the season once again against James Madison. The game will now be played Friday at 3 p.m., and there will not be a live stream available.

So what does it take to run it back? For North Carolina, the answer is simple: lean into what has long made the Tar Heels a powerhouse—returning production, elite coaching continuity under Jenny Levy, and one of the toughest schedules in the country. All of it is designed to prepare UNC for another championship push.

With reigning Tewaaraton winner Chloe Humphrey leading the offense while Sam Forrest and Brooklyn Walker-Welch anchor the defense, the star power is undeniable. But North Carolina’s success has never been about individual brilliance alone. It’s built on depth, balance, and a relentless supporting cast that fuels the Tar Heels’ transition game and sustains momentum from whistle to whistle. Rising sophomores Eliza Osborn (35G, 9A, 56 DC) and Addison Pattillo (31G) return with valuable experience, alongside gritty, do-it-all midfielder Kate Levy. Seniors Kiley Mottice and Caroline Godine add even more stability and versatility to an already well-rounded attack.

The true measuring stick will come in mid-March, when UNC faces a gauntlet of contenders in Northwestern, Boston College, and Florida—the preseason No. 2, 3, and 4 teams, respectively. Perfection isn’t required to repeat, but make no mistake: the Tar Heels will be hunting another title.

The rest of the article is also interesting.

Wow! Bulletin board material. We still cannot get the respect that we deserved. The IL Staff is putting Stanford over Florida. We just have to prove them wrong again this year. Go Heels!

Reflecting on Tommy’s interview, Coach Levy said this would be a fun team to watch. I like the sound of that-
The schedule is really back-loaded. The Heels play Florida, Boston College and Northwestern in a period of eight days (March 17 -25). After a game with ECU, they play Virginia (Apr 3) and Stanford (Apr 10).

The statistics box for today’s game provides today’s starting lineup.

Absent: Brooklyn Walker-Welch, Ellie Traggio (as expected), Kiley Mottice.

It doesn’t indicate positions, so here are my guesses:

Attack: Chloe Humphrey, Caroline Godine, Addison Pattillo

Middies: Kate Levy, Eliza Osburn, Kayleigh Harden (one will be positioned on attack for the draw)

Defense: Sam Forrest, Charlotte Corkins, Avery Roberts, Audrey Hurleman

Draw: Sarah Gresham

Goalie: Betty Nelson
