So you want to go back to when the hand touches its automatically a takedown because that was a nightmareRight, so let’s make it harder to earn a TD.

That was perfect illustration you gave and it clearly shows it's not a takedown. Yes hand or knees nothing hit at all. If Elam was on top that would probably be a 2 reversal but not enough control for a takedownThat's why I shared screenshots so we can reference it. Figured it was something like not enough contact points on the mat.
But this wasn't a hand touch. This is a completely different situation. Cody didn't grab the ankle for half a second and then Elam kicks out. He fully secures both ankles and Elam is on his knees. Elam then reaches all the way back to grab a far ankle to force a stalemate (while Cody has complete control of both ankles the whole time). So you want to go back to when the hand touches its automatically a takedown because that was a nightmare
Yeah, let’s go to the other end of the spectrum…So you want to go back to when the hand touches its automatically a takedown because that was a nightmare
That post wasn't anything about that match at all. I have explained my thoughts on that in posts above. Go to post #116 in this thread. But this wasn't a hand touch. Reaction times for hand touches verse reaction time so a guy can grab an ankle to force a stalemate are completely different things IMO. One makes a lot of sense. The other makes zero sense.
Guys are already so good at grabbing ankles to defend takedowns I don't understand making it even easier for them.
Exactly his knees never hit. It would have been a reversal if Elam was on top but zero control to award a takedownAt first I thought it was a takedown, then on the replay by the time he got the second ankle Elam was still on his feet, completely negating the down part of the takedown, then he dives back, completely negating the control of the definition of a takedown, behind the hips and all.
I know it wasn't about this match. You brought up hand touch takedowns. My point was this was a completely different situation than hand touch takedowns. That post wasn't anything about that match at all. I have explained my thoughts on that in posts above. Go to post #116 in this thread.
Nah check my pictures above. Elam had no knees or hands down. Not a takedown. Ref made the right call on it.But this wasn't a hand touch. This is a completely different situation. And that position happened for about .20 of a second wasn't even close to a takedown go watch it again. If that was the other way around and they gave Elam 3 you would be saying the opposite. It's called being a fanView attachment 1175639
To me, that is a takedown. Behind, control of both ankles and Rocky is on a knee. I don’t think Rocky’s desperation reach back changes the fact that Merrill has control.
Nah, I wrestled at another program and not a blind fan of Ok. St. I like them but also just like college wrestling. Over the last few years I have gotten annoyed with seeing so many near takedowns stopped, not by a move to escape/improve the position but instead to tie up a takedown that I think is there but is at least 95% there and hold the position long enough for the ref to call a stalemate and bail you out. I’ve felt this way about matches that don’t involve OSU. I get it and don’t blame the wrestler, I have done the same thing, but think should call takedowns quicker. So, my bias is for quicker takedowns. And that position happened for about .20 of a second wasn't even close to a takedown go watch it again. Everyone is so good now with defense and scrambling. I get that fans want to see points but at this level getting a takedown against another quality opponent isn't easyNah, I wrestled at another program and not a blind fan of Ok. I’m pretty sure I called it that Swiderski shouldn’t be counted outSwiderski wins 4 to 2 with a nice single leg and then elevates it and gets Frost down for the takedown. Frost was rated 6th and so big win.
