I'm interested in what was apparently an honoring of hoops alumni. A pre-game ceremony, perhaps?

I had to watch the first half at a sports bar where no BTN audio was available. Brief video showed a line of former players oncourt, with a lingering shot of Eschmeyer. What struck me, though, was several seconds of graphic showing "'60-61 season." There must have been special mention of that squad; as it was near the end of my own time at NU, I'd like to know what special tribute was paid. For that matter, anyone watching on TV with sound might know what was said by commentators..

Might there be any list available of the former Wildcats who appeared? I knew a couple of players back then. They would be as ancient as I am now. Sadly, I've not maintained contact with any. Can you help satisfy curiosity as to anyone from that long-ago time who was present?.

I was looking for McKinney and was wondering if he was able to get away from the mic.

There was a pregame reception in the old football building west of W-R that we could see walking in to the game. It wasn't just for the 60-61 season, tho there was a tiny older guy at the right end of the line who looked like he could have played that long ago. I just don't get why we can't get these things right. These guys come back for a Wildcat hoops reunion, read out their names and year they graduated. It's not that complicated. Do it at halftime if you have too many to do it during the interminable tv timeouts...

First one I remember was in old McGaw around 1982 (?) And they did do the individual introductions. Billy Mckinney got a long ovation , and also Rod Roberson, since he was so recent.

That was so Northwestern. No promotion. Barely any word after they appeared. Almost wanted to keep it a secret.

If the purpose is simply to get them together, then don't trot them out at halftime. But if you want them to feel our support, build the brand and celebrate all the time these guys gave us, NU needs to do better.

Somebody may want to tell NU it has a large video screen. Maybe they could use it.

I saw Jitim's name flash across the scoreboard. I'm not sure he was there since they trotted the group out so quickly. Wouldn't some video of Jitim ... Esch ... Art Aaron and more be a nice celebration for one night?

Look, I am sure Darrel Dupit is a fine human being. But, does anyone like the constancy / frequency of the schtick?

The non announcement of the players was because we had Darrel doing his thing during most of the timeout.

Seriously, how do you not truly honor Rich Falk. Evan Eschmeyer, Jitim Young, and Jake Haunty with an announcement of their names and all-Big Ten honors? A true miss…as was the Rose Bowl team.

Dupit's schtick is paid sponsorships. If it weren't him, it would be someone else. If they aren't to willing to sacrifice the revenue during one of the "under 4x" time-outs, then we should introduce them at halftime or don't even bother putting them out there. It was clownish.

Disappointed as I was with the Rose Bowl team intro. As you say some guys come from across the country to be there.

At one point didn't Esch have a couple of kids who were potential hoops players? Easy way to generate some good will with him and his family...
