I also think the re emergence of OK St is going to push Iowa down the power rankings over the next few years

Even VT might surpass them. “Iowa style” doesn’t feel the same, they become a school of mercenaries..if they don’t get a NCAA finalist this year(Caliendo/Ferrarri best shots)…..Iowa fans must be getting antsy..

We’re good at beating bad teams.. let’s see what happens when we wrestle a team with a pulse. Beating a dogshit Maryland team shouldn’t be cause for celebration.
Hey that “dogshit” team almost beat us last year in a wtf moment… and as Samson pointed out, Maryland finished ahead of RU at nationals last year, so let’s put some respect on their name and just be thankful we beat a b10 team lol.

I'm just happy several guys won in dominant fashion. I would have liked to see more with Smiths offense, cause he has it. Gibson lost, but at least he's throwing it out there. Despite the losses, his matches have been entertaining. White did what he was expected to do against an unranked freshmen. Toranzo match reminded me of a little Boone action. Hopefully his gas tank improves. Very please with Barbosa, Ford and Cotton.

Really? Going after the most respected poster on the board because he asked if people were "happy"with a 30-9 win? And by the way, a pretty dominant win is a cause for celebration. No need to take that away from the wrestlers, coaches and fans. Pretty douchey post by you.

Not going after anyone.. I just don’t get excited after beating terrible teams. Goody has been here for what? 20 years? At this stage we should have higher expectations.

Agree. Lots of good young Talent on this team. Really hope that Scott can pick up a top-notch assistant coach to help develop these kids. We need this program to take the next step. The talent is certainly there.

In edit: while the place was a morgue for the first couple of bouts the level of wrestling definitely picked up and got the place way more juiced up. This could be a very special venue over the next couple years if we make a couple of key moves.

Maryland finished ahead of Rutgers at NCAA tournament last year.
If they had there full team, they could finish ahead of us again.....they would have 2 top 10 wrestlers and braxton brown.....
Who knows....
We are better team. DId you see the HC record after 8 seasons? .333 winning pct...

The line up next year is pretty close to set it seems
125- Knox/Smith
133-Knox/Gibson/Perkins?
141- Little Harer /Perkins/Gibson
149- Mangro/Nini
157- C Harer/ Mangro
165- Barbosa
174- Chapman/ Ford - Any idea who wins in the room between these 2?
184- SCW
197- Cotton
285- Transfer portal/ Toranzo

Odds of finding a big time heavyweight in the portal is slim and I could see bringing in a portal guy at 125/133 whatever weight Knox isn’t but we’ve recruited a lot of guys at the lower weights so we may not want to spend resources on those weights.

I hope Sasso ends up on the staff full time and I know it’s unlikely but the fact we ever let Ashnault leave the building is ridiculous, greatest wrestler in school history coaching at prinecton is nauseating we should’ve offered him Donnie spot when he left .

Didn’t realize Rutgers and Rider are tied 12-12 in all time match ups that’s pretty embarrassing.
125-149 will be a dog fight and Rider can win all those match ups but 157-285 we should win every match and pick up bonus in a few of those

I agree. I didn't get to see the match, but read that Gibson lost while attempting to win at the end. That is what should be happening. He'll be good at 133lbs if there's an opening. If not, he'll be a wasted talent and maybe move on elsewhere.

I learned long ago, while coaching kids' soccer, that whether they looked good or bad depended on the opposing team's talent. White's TF, case in point.

Rutgers used to be a horrific program on the verge of being cut. Rutgers has won the last 10 meetings

I think Rider will be a tough meet for us and scares me. I was pleased with how we competed last night but back to back will make us more vulnerable.
I can’t see how rider wins more then 5 matches, 125-149 for sure will be tough and Zurawski may be ranked at 197 but I think Cotton bonuses him,157-184 should be bonus point city For Rutgers and 285 Swenski can keep it close but hasn’t shown he can beat anyone with a pulse.

should be a comfortable win in the end

Shawver is a complete shell of what he used to be. You can talk about him not being a big receuit or whatever but reality he was an AA and B10 champ and now looks like he barely belongs our there. Its sad to watch

If we are worried about Rider and Maryland, we have big problems. Rider lost their good kids to the portal. They don’t have an ounce of NIL funds.

Clark is horrendous. Literally not 1 pc of offense. Its pathetic to watch.

Really would rather see the young guys. Sick of this same **** of no offense, stalling. Its the most boring style ever.

Just let Magro wrestle already. We have a jam at 149 with Magro, Nini and younger Harer coming in. Clark is a waste of roster spot at this point. How do the coaches not see this?

They probably hung up on the fact that he’s a NQ(made R16 last year I believe?) and that he’s a senior…
