I don’t think Rutgers can financially get rid of Pike so I disagree with that one
Rutgers has never had a problem with wasting taxpayer money on coaches to make them leave. However, I do agree they'll give Pike at least one more year. Before writing a massive check to Pikiell, they are better off pouring money into their player salary pool this Spring and see how Pike does with Big10 level tools - a GM and money to spend on players.

Pike gets a job if he gets canned but I think he’s getting another year to sell these freshmen they can win the old way.
Puzzled why Motta would be considered a warm seat. Very good program in a small slump.

While I don't think our coach is anywhere near a hot seat, does anyone find it odd he's listed on the same level as the last few national champion coaches.

It was reported that Pikiell had a clause in his contract at one time that cut the buyout in half if Hobbs was fired. I don’t lno if that clause was in hi latest extension but unfortunately for RU fans who want Pike gone Hobbs legally resigned, so that closed that door.

Hubert Davis on the hot seat? I realize it’s UNC but he’s an alum and has gotten them to a championship game and also a sweet 16 in 4 years. This year TBD.

It’s a bit like what Adam Carolla (who I haven’t listened to in years, since he went off deep-end) used to call Rich Man, Poor Man: E.g., Most expensive thing you own is a really old car. Describes both a rich man and a poor man—but for very different reasons.

If he coached at any other place, he'd be in the room temp or warm category. But too many Seton Hall admins and fans ignore his many faults because of how good of a player he was 25-30 years ago. Hometown bias is real.

It speaks to how poorly the Seton Hall job is viewed on the national level. For the last several years we were one of the 3-5 worst-funded Power Teams. That increased a few notches this season but still solidly below-average.

Turning a positive into a negative?
Your bias is amazing.

What's positive? Not following you. I admit I don't like him.
The team is still Top 50 in the nation according to the metric sites and firmly in the 4/5 territory in the Big East. When you look at what other teams are doing, not just in the Big East but nationally, you might not like to admit it, but SHU is in a good place.

Rutgers AD said this in radio interview yesterday. From Jerry's article.....

“You take a look at everybody from a historical perspective, and (I) was able to see the progress that Coach Pikiell and his crew had, particularly for a couple of years there, and then the world of NIL comes along and was a little bit of a disruption or him,” Zinn said. “We’re going to put him in a spot where we’re more on the same page with folks around the country who are his competitors.

“Biggest thing that has probably happened over the past six months surrounds the progress we’ve made, which has been the main focal point, of investment in our rosters,” she said. “You won’t see that immediately, but you’re going to see it show up in 2026-27 and more specifically in 2027-28. Thrilled with the amount of support, particularly on the corporate side of things.”
