I know a parent of a player on a top 5 team. She's probably 9th or 10th in the rotation this year and last. Last year against South, none of the starters played at all, so she started and played a bunch.

70-8 was a class C1 score earlier this year… how can a varsity team only score 8 or less? Crazy.

It is shocking!

The school I am at has some dominate teams and some of these games are just brutal for both sides. No one wants to play in them and the game is over before it starts.

And Grand Island Public High School, the largest in the state, does not even have a varsity girls' basketball team. Shame on the NSAA for not implementing residency and transfer rules.

Imo a lot of the better players on in high school don’t go out for sports because they are tired on being picked over for the favorite kid. You ca definitely see it in the smaller classes

Sometimes you have club Volleyball that hurts Girls basketball also . I know teams that were top 3 in VB and would win a handful of games in Basketball.

How is that even possible.
In modern sports, the kids who play start at a very young age, they play a ton of games every year, some focus solely on one sport, they spending thousands on camps, clubs, travel teams, equipment, nutrition..and then on the other side we have kids who have never played club, either don't have the money or support, at best they played 8 games a year in the Y, and the join the team because of friends or to "try it out". Kids aren't playing on the blacktop every day, they are either spending hundreds of days a year on an organized sport, or literally none until they get until their teens. It was inevitable that there would be fewer "good" players and more "great" players and at times the "great" teams come in contact with basically non-players.

I don't think you're a "wussy" if you show some sportsmanship when the game is no longer in doubt. This game was never in dount based on a season full of information about both teams.
Yep that was my point. I helped with Boys Basketball at a Small HS. We had both solid girls and boys programs. There we games where we literally didn’t even think about pressing. We would do we had to do on Defense the first quarter to get the game under control like maybe a 20 point margin. Then we literally sat back in a soft man or even went to a zone defense. You empty the bench early.

That's two years in a row, right? Our HS sports is a disgrace. I did see that Ralston boys and girls teams have combined to win one game so far. Both teams are averaging about 60 points. Combined.

South needs to do some cruitin.
Oh geez. Here we go! The legislature has spent 10 hours so far on a bill banning a trans from a restroom cause you know some school in some far away place allowed it and we better get ahead of this issue in this red state! Damn those guys waste time. Look into shutting down this school transfer **** or make schools that accept transfers play up a division or two.

Just my thoughts

1. Most of the the time the coaches are playing the best players. I am sure sometimes there is clearly a kid that is getting more time than another kid that is better, but 99/100 we play the best kid. NOW, if both kids are equal there is a chance the kid that is less annoying will play more.

2. Parents that have fallen for all the "club and select" sports have ruined a lot of this. You know who you are. Especially girls, where their crazy select coaches basically make it impossible for them to play other sports. Do you really NEED 106 volleyball games in a season? You don't.

3. Coaches NEED to be in the building, they need to be teachers so that they can recruit more kids to come out for the teams.

If you know anything about Grand Island then you know it’s driven a lot by demographics. That’s being said the fact they weren’t even able to get 6-7 girls per class to go out is unreal.
