We looked so intimidated from the start last night. I'm not saying you need to be a rah rah chest thumper but this team has too many players good and not so good who perform like robots. There is a big difference between being cocky and displaying infectious swagger that rubs off on your teammates and this Iowa women's team does not have swagger. I wouldn't mind seeing Coach occasionally chew some arse.

Just expect a loss anytime one of our teams goes out to the West Coast this game was hardly surprising.
It does make me walk back my comment that we will have the athletes next year to make a deep run. We won't have the athletes of the UConn's but will just have to win with chemistry and coaching.

We can quit worrying about a 1 seed. 3 at best but more like a 4.
I agree. A 4 seed and host 2 tournament games has been my pick for awhile. I love this team and the chemistry within but we arent a top 4 to 8 team in the country. I just dont feel like we are strong enough at the two and three position. Mccabe/Deal and Fuerbach/Stremlow are just not at that level right now in my opinion. Feel like we are around the top 12 to 16 team which aint bad at all with all the freshman and sophomores playing
Just boils down to they made their shots and we didn't and silly turnovers.
We played well (without Hannah) on our west coast trip last year. Not buying it.
It's a completely different team and Hannah only played 20 minutes because she was in foul trouble early. Last year's team was dominated by upper classmen. The first quarter last night consisted primarily of 2 freshmen, 2 sophomores and 1 senior, none of whom played in those games youre referring to with the exception of Kylie. I get it. You are mad because they didn't win and they didn't play well. They're still a young team and the only 2 upper classmen didn't play well either. That's often a recipe for what we saw last night just one game after dominating a very good OSU squad at home. If you're looking for positives, the best performances last night were put in not by upper classmen, but by Houston, Stremlow, Ava, and Chit chat who were not intimidated in the least by the environment. This is still a very good team with a bright future that will continue to improve.

Houston with an outstanding performance with 16 and 10. She is gaining more and more confidence which will pay huge dividends come tourney time.
She hasn't looked like a freshman at any time this year that I can recall. Just very solid every time she's been out there and is a rebounding machine.

I don't have the stats in front of me, but the poster you responded to was probably more accurate than not.I was simply stating that the fact that last year's veteran team won out there isn't altogether relevant to this year's team with a much more youthful roster.

Jan said on her post game in the locker room, that Journey has been working on her mid range shot and she did hit at least once last night, so if she becomes a threat for Ds there, then I'm pretty sure she can drive on the defender. I think she has a bright future.
Saw a post somewhere that they had a great big group hug. Sometimes this coach needs to quit always being a good buddy and use some tough love on these players. Also needs to get into the refs and fight for her players. Unfortunately the respectful approach doesn't work in college sports. Swagger, edge, whatever you want to call it they don't seem to have it.
A poorly designed/executed offense results in random/forced/panic passes. Those don't usually end well.

. I'm with you. Jans demeanor is actually kinda annoying at times. For once I'd like to see her get pissed and chewed some ***, the players and the refs for God's sake. Enough of the buddy buddy smile smile clap clap crapPassing up wide open mid range/free throw line shots drive me crazy. That should be automatic shot for players that have been playing basketball for years. Sometimes it looks like they are conditioned to force it down low...even when the play isn't open. Low bounce passes that have little chance of being completed. SHOOT IT!!!!

Ok I will say it. HS is soft. Travels with an over sized stuffed animal like an 8 year old.
I think they’ve been programmed to think they either can’t make it or to not take it. It’s insane to me to have either Hannah or Houston 15 feet (or less) standing there with nobody guarding them and looking to make that pass into Heiden who has a player playing behind her and the other player sagging off. Houston made 1 last night because she didn’t hesitate and just took it and hit it. It certainly seems to me that it’s been coached out of them to shoot it.
Having an unguarded player near the FF line and not even considering a shot is a killer and it happened several times. That's the equivalent of only having 4 players on the court.
I think you're right. That should be a gimme shot. Heiden is fair at that shot, Hannah never has really even tried it but she has been a little more lately. Houston, the jury is still out. Like you say though, it seems as though they're programmed not to take it.

Doesn’t happen with this so called coach. She’s more of a den mother. She doesn’t want to make them mad at her. Her in game adjustments never seem to change.
