And yet he only won one championship while he was there, then another at Louisville. If he was the coach people make him out to be, he would have surpassed Wooden for most titles long ago.
He basically won it in 98 also - Tubby won with Pitino's team. If Pitino had not left, he would have at least 3 titles here, maybe more with the way things were trending before he left to the NBA.
Also, he was only here for 8 years and 2 of those were years that UK was ineligible to play in the tournament. In the next 6 years, we were in 6 final fours with 1 championship.
Huh? Pitino made the final four in '93,'96,'97. Tubby made it in '98 and won it all. So that is 4 final four's and two championships between them. We didn't get another final four until 2011.
