Really really hoping he can be one of those freshman that can come in and compete for a title/AA right away…(someone here predicted he could have better career then Ash) there’s been so many of these freshman types just this year alone..

Davino/Larkin/Blaze/Forrest/Seidel/Vega/Joy/Duke/Robideau/Lockkett/Sinclair etc.
I suggest guarded optimism. Brandt has not been out there like Forrest, Bassett, Lilledahl, Duke, and Blaze. He's 18 on the pound-for-pound rankings. Where was Ashnault? Where was Soldano? I think Harer will be good and I hope he has more success than his brother, who we also thought was a big deal. To his credit, Brandt beat 144lbs #3, Sheppard 4-0 at Super 32, and he beat Romero 12-0. Romero is now #5 at 150lbs. Raney is #1 at 144lbs and #6 P-F-P; has he ever wrestled him? Who has Brandt's best win been against?

You are using the word kids like these are 9 year olds in some youth tournament. These are grown men some of them over 24 years old that are getting paid Lol.
That's true, but I'm 74, so it's relative. And you might notice that when one of the guys gets criticized, his defenders refer to him as a kid. Either way, they're tough kids or men and can take it.

I actually agree w u on the guarded optimism which is why I’m only hoping.. we seen plenty of busts in college for w.e reasons which is why I want to see how they look against NQ+ lvl d1 competition first before crowning expectations.

Off on a tangent here but it’s amazing to me how some still think Basset might not transition to college/overhyped/all marketing/less man strength…still when he majors #2 Joy, TF #3 Tyus, and won a bracket that had #4 Stiles in it.. all THIS year.. lol he’s as lock as it gets(VT will contend w the big dogs very soon).

Not sure which rankings you use, but Harer is #10 on flo big board and I trust them the most. Ash was ~#8(his class was really good). Soldano~#10, Camp was #6, Aragona #6. Older Harer was ~20s.

I think Harer’s best win was against Shepperd, who is going to PSU, and will be top 5 p4p for his class. Don’t think he’s ever faced off w Raney. I think ppl get hung up on Brandt’s pa state titles or that he might be the winningest pa hs record.. but I think the more impressive feat, by far, is how he won the S32 bracket(also rocked awesome singlet).. beat top notch competition, looked dominant in all positions and only gave up 2 escape pts.

I stand behind what I said …get a life instead of whine about what some 24 year old is getting supposedly paid to do for the school you donate to … if you don’t like what results you’re getting then don’t donate anymore
Assuming that you donate at all and to me and many here they are kids and guys like you and many others come on here and whine and complain so not sure who the kids are lol

Well Flo is absolutely not the best ranking, you could make the case it’s the worst.
Harer is 9th on Matscouts , it’s not just his resume ,the style he wrestles should carry over well to college, his mat wrestling is elite . He is a level above his brother already. Him and Knox coming in together for 4 years instantly brings the whole line up to another level

Why do you feel Flo is the worst?

Everyone that’s a top 10 p4p class recruit is generally considered elite before stepping into college. I just generally take a guarded optimism approach.

Haha this blowhard who is on the board all day every day fighting with crackers is telling me to get a life. I’m on here once every few weeks guy. I don’t give a crap what they are being paid just wierd you refer to 24 year old men as kids.

They list guys at the wrong weight often , they play favorites, they have these nonsensical rules for the ranking and all around have been no where near as accurate as matscouts. Matscouts has been a lot more accurate for years now especially once you get past the top 10. Flo NJ ranking have been a total joke since they started doing them I’ve seen them lost guys out for the whole season , guys that graduated already , a guy that was a backup on his own team was in the ranking for like 2 months

Bassett will do well in college. His style of perpetual motion may not work well with the better wrestlers, as seen when he went up against Blaze, Hardy, Stanich, and earlier, Knox. I think his success will depend on how well he maintains his conditioning, because he relies on it. His training routine is a personal one, meaning it is above and beyond his school program. He will need to continue it at VT and avoid getting distracted by college life. A girlfriend could kill his chances. I remember how my priorities changed when I had that first "serious" girlfriend.

I use Intermat. I haven't tried to make any judgment about which is more accurate; I just settled on Intermat and have stayed with them for consistency.

Brandt's record is impressive. I'd like to have seen him against more top talent. He needs to start right away at Rutgers. I think he will do well, but AA is the question. He, like his brother, is good on top.

Bassett turns 20 in August, not a normal age for incoming freshman
