Clearly on the coaches. They didn’t either tell Catka what he needed to do or didn’t motivate him. Their kid had only won 2 bouts all year. He was standing straight up and asking to be taken down.
Well , unfortunately , nothing is going to get done about it, because there's a buddy system down there in the athletic department. When donors and money start going away , then you'll see how fast the new athletic directors loyalty will be too goodale.

This team is what it is and for some of you guys to take it so personal is a joke to me ...not sure why you guys attack the kids the way some of you do...if you think they owe you something because you donate so much then stop giving money to the program...pretty simple solution rather the act like children and call out kids because they lost or didn't win by enough ...we are fans and we want more from the team we follow ..I get it but ripping kids ain't changing anything and never will...I know some of you will rip me for saying what I just did but I'm not the one who comes on here just to belittle coaches and kids after every match ...stop donating if you don't like what your money is getting you ....or get lives that fulfill whatever RU wrestling doesn't provide you...
I just want to know why Joey O can wrestle at the Bloomsburg open but not in this dual, he easily bonuses that kid and we win. That’s atleast 2 duals his “situation“ has cost the team.

Cotton..the most he was up was 3 pts in the third. Didn’t look like he was pushing pace for major but not much time left at that point.. Catka was never in position for a major.. the match went into SV….
It’s possible they weren’t told/aware of the situation.. the announcers kept saying whoever won the hwt match would win the match.. they truly thought RU won when Catka won then had to take it back and double check it…
It’s commendable SCW wrestled hurt and is a gamer but I disagree w coach’s decision to wrestle hurt guys like SCW and Pinto. Gotta think about the picture, even Illinois rested 2 starters and still won. Just rest SCW if his back is hurt and send out Weaver. Great decision to send out Ford but shoulda been done sooner the way Pinto’s been looking/(inj)?
Speaking of Ford, wow what an impressive match, bumping up a weight and beating a ranked guy. He also had the first takedown vs Mesenbrink love his moxy.. he could be the diamond in the rough type gem we been looking for.
Also, good weekend from Shawver. Nice tf over NW and he showed glimpses of big10 champ Shawver vs Byrd.. hope he keeps it up.
Another note is we usually think our guy’s are smaller, outsized and outmuscled, but I thought it was interesting how often the announcers kept saying how much bigger and taller almost every RU wrestler looked compared to Illinois.

I dont put this on SCW at all. Big props for the kid for gutting it out (if he was injured which it seemed like he was)
Based on what I saw, I thought Cotton could major his kid but he seemed to be out of gas. And then Catka looked like he had zero urgency
They even showed Goodale a few times and he didnt look like a head coach who wanted to win a dual. Of course I know he did...BUT...for a staff that could have really used this win to talk about upward momentum (beating a top 10 on the road!!!), I felt there was zero urgency coming from our bench and wrestlers

SCW is excelling. Would have rested him as can’t afford him hurting his back more. Only concern is that SCW seems to get in his opponents’ face after he loses a bout. Could cost us down the line.

Remy know he needed more and Ford knew he needed a tech. Yes Cafka knew how many points he needed to win. Kid was just too huge.
Ford should be given a chance to win it next year, it’s almost February, we ve spent a lot of resources to get Pinto , he had his knee scooped and came back 2 weeks later for the team you don’t just go and bench him now for Ford
Connell is a good wrestler coming back from injury. Definitely has been ranked in top 20 and qualified for NcAA in past. Don’t put this on Cotton. Catka dont care how big kid is. So him wrestle week prior abd gor destroyed. Catka didnt even try any offense. If we lose either way put it on the line for team and take a few chances.

Yeah but we know results are not transient and it was 1 of his 1st dates back after being out for 30 days with injury. He also beat Nelson from MN whos solid 2 wks ago and gave MI kid a good match.

Yep they seemed to be surprised how much taller most of our wrestlers were. Kept pointing it out.
Really really hoping he can be one of those freshman that can come in and compete for a title/AA right away…(someone here predicted he could have better career then Ash) there’s been so many of these freshman types just this year alone..

You are using the word kids like these are 9 year olds in some youth tournament. These are grown men some of them over 24 years old that are getting paid Lol.
