I can easily not pay attention to baseball when we struggle even though it's our most successful sport. Just didn't grow up around it. Now that my son plays it - I do follow it more.

1: Baseball, but it almost died in June 2022, now I'm moderately back;
3: Football, it did die after Leach, only way I'm coming back is if we go on a playoff run, I hate our culture, but it is football and we can't ignore;
3: Basketball, I just want us to be average, still have fond memories of the 90s and early Stans era, much better culture than football.

Not a lot of separation in between. But when I was in school 35-40 years ago, the order was the inverse.

Football is still king and easier to follow from afar. The internet and the SEC Network have made it possible for me to keep up with baseball in ways I just couldn't previously. I used to follow basketball more closely than baseball. Again, it was easier to access games and information on the sport.

I pay a little attention to baseball as a pass time when we are doing well. It doesn't bother me nor do I pay any attention at all when we aren't doing well.

Football used to be #1 but like someone before said, after leach’s passing and the fiasco following really made it not that enjoyable anymore.

Football and basketball are 1a and 1b

Baseball is just whatever to me and I freely admit to being a fairweather fan.

I will support anything MSU from softball to tennis to volleyball to soccer, etc.
I agree on the last line. I'll pay attention if they are doing good. With baseball, I'll at least check the score during the game regardless.

There's no real 4th. I would care about men's soccer if we added it and probably put it fourth.

I actually like basketball more but I have been much more checked out on it. I think it's just that fall weekends revolve around football but basketball is hardly talked about.

I have pretty much soured on ncaa basketball as a whole for a while now, combine that with our lack of recent success and there you have it

I’m aware the past three years weren’t awful, but I had already kind of fallen off by then

Basketball/football flippable depending upon success - although I find myself enjoying football much less as I get older.

Mine is the same but my gap is probably a lot larger. I only know we're playing basketball when I see it posted on message boards. If nothing else is on, I usually turn it on if we're winning but not always.

Football - I was numb to us being bad in the 80's & probably developed some unrealistic expectations during the Mullen years. I am beginning to numb to it again.

For about 50 years football was ALWAYS #1 and #2, then basebalI. I didn't go to my first baseball game until about 1980 and was a casual fan until I came to school here in '82, then I was hooked.

About 5 years ago I lost interest in college and pro football. I will still watch State on TV and tailgate every game in the Junction but I'm not paying them a salary from my salary.

I live 15 minutes from the Hump and wouldn't go to a basketball game in a free limo ride on Unlimited Free Beer Night, or any basketball game for that matter including college or pros

The answer to this question depends entirely on:

1. The time of year it is
2. The relative success/failure of each sport at the time the question is asked

If I'm being honest, my ranking is similar to yours, but given current state, I can't wait for baseball season.

At this point, I’m completely apathetic toward anything MSU sports.

I tailgate during football season purely as a social event — seeing friends, hanging out with my kids and their friends. Basketball has totally lost me. Jans clearly thought this was a quick pit stop job, that didn’t work out, and now he’s coaching like a guy who wouldn’t mind a buyout and a moving truck.

I’ve got a little hope for baseball, but I’ve been a State fan long enough to know hope is usually just the first step toward disappointment. At this point, I’m trying to figure out how to become a walk-on Bama fan without buying a doublewide, growing a goatee, or sacrificing any remaining teeth.

If I’m going to watch a random basketball game that’s not the Grizzlies or State I’m going to choose an NBA game 90 percent of the time. College basketball in general is pretty awful to watch.

This pretty much is the same for me, just replace Grizzlies with Celtics

All #1’s when they are going on, of course. All other university sports are way down.

I am a sicko. I follow it all equally. If we are playing and I can watch, I will have the game on. Football, basketball (Men and women), soccer, softball, golf, etc. I live in Tupelo, and when my kids get older, we will be in Starkville all the time. Heck, I am thinking about going to the golf match we host in the spring.

Basketball used to push for #1 in the 1990s - but the college game has changed so drastically (negative) and is such a bad product, I hardly even watch March Madness anymore.

Basketball is just a bad product at the college level outside of the NCAAT. That plus our lack of competitiveness makes me completely uninterested in basketball now.

As I've gotten older I've enjoyed baseball more. The sport itself + our competitiveness in it.
