125 CRUZ UR vs UR was not happy not seeing our starter but.... SOLID work getting 1st TD, would have liked the ride out. Pushed pace enough to get Neb dinged for stalling NEB down start 2nd out quick nothing else, IOWA down start 3 out quick nothing more would have liked to see another TD but good win in hostile environment to start us off 90

133 AYALA 10 vs 8 a lil tip, it appears Drakes opponents are coming out hot trying to keep him from getting into his Rhythm/match. He gave up 1st TD but got out quickly and then we got TWOOOO see the GOOD DRAKE !!!! He started wrestling very well B1G + 95

141 BAILEY 10 vs 3 showed his good D but playing edge to much!!! He had a great reshot to a single in air, walked kid to edge then tried to finish, was challenged and BY RULE should have been a TD but...?????down 1-0 going into 3rd, choosed N OK but you have to SHOOT!!!! I don't know what to grade this???

149 BLOCK 17 vs 14 Missed 1st TD because the B1G ten network always seems to be showing some BS instead of the match!?!?!? On replay, BLOCK hits a blast off whistle NICE!!! Gave up a TD from a tie up but worked out. In 3rd he goes shot single in air works nicely to a cradle and HUGE PIN!!!! 100

157 WILLIAMS 12 vs 5 This matched showed the POS refs bias toward IOWA Was a TUFF match some good D shown by WILLIAMS He does not wrestle my favorite style but the OT push out stall call was very questionable 75


165 CALIENDO 3 vs 7 IOWA comes out swinging neb kid like GUMBY IOWA deep shot, should have been N danger, MIKEY is IOWA thru and thru. Just keeps working, doesn't get rattled, there was another situation where IOWA works out off bottom and should have gotten a reversal, but NOOOOO???? He gets major 95

174 KENNEDY 3 vs 6 IOWA working *** off and again, no stall calls coming our way??? KENNEDY showing a lil funk/scramble ability. match goes to double OT where KENNEDY gets out lightening quick then Neb chooses N and remarkably we get dinged for a stall warning whatever REF you POS!!! 85

184 ARNOLD UR vs 7 IOWA out pushing pace gets 1st TD and ride out great 1st traded escapes 2 and 3 ARNOLD showed some great D HUGE win to SEAl the DEAl 100

197 SAMPSON(like the name) UR vs 9 Kid is doing everything he can for the team give him the 8-3

Heavy KRUETER 8 vs 4 Late TD Neb trade escapes B1G BEN had a very late shot that could have sent match to OT but.... Interesting at end AJ talking with BEN, again AJ should be our 197 but whatever.....

BRANDS 300 wins!!!!

133- A- (return to form, but could he have gotten bonus?)
141- B- (should've had a 3-1 lead, but also should've then opened up in the 3rd when he then did not in fact have a 3-1 lead because of an official's little man syndrome moment)
149- S (Block to Back)
157- C- (others will probably be harder on him, and fairly so. He had time to slide back into the circle before being stiff armed out of bounds and stalled out of the match. Being tired and wanting the match to be over with is a poor excuse.....it's an excuse...............but it's a poor one)
165- A (got the major, silenced the little red crowd and set the table for the second half of the dual)
174- B+ (wrestled his match and wore out his opponent by the end. Offense leaves a lot to be desired, even if "that's just the way he is"................)
184- A+ (controlled the match from start to finish)
197- D (Didn't get pinned.....mission accomplished!!! šŸ˜ƒ)
HWY- F (F for Fire him.....)

Concur with all but 97. He was way outmatched and still fought hard; I give him a C. Some good matches for a change. Love Mikeyā€™s effort against a very game opponent; loved Block and Drake in this one and was impressed with the way PK and Gabe controlled their matches. Even Cruz got me a little excited with the amount of shots he took. Congrats to Tom on 300, and now letā€™s keep the momentum going!

Nice bounce back performance overall. I do notice an unfortunate trend: wrestling tight/not to lose which leads to trying to win matches on the strength of one move and not a lot of real attempts. It's like watching the Buckeyes under Hellickson. 125, 141, 157, 174 and 285...I just don't understand the reluctance to make attempts to score. It's hard to watch. PK gets the guy on the mat so many times with his snap down and I don't recall him following it with a go behind attempt or a shot attempt. Why not? (I did love the escape in one second though, which proves he's explosive enough to attempt moves earlier in the match.)

On the other hand, really enjoyed watching Ayala, Block and Caliendo be aggressive. Arnold was also fun to watch because he wasn't just protecting his lead.

It would also be nice to see someone trying to score from top. Lack of committed attempts drives me nuts.

we looked like we barely were interested in trying to ride at all, let alone try to score. don't expect everyone to be Spencer out there, but it has to improve.

overall loved the bouceback. it was important to not lose as much as it was to win solidly, and could have won by even more if not for Angel and JW deciding to stop wrestling at the wrong time (again). still need to create better angles for shots, too many were straight on, and had no followups. and BK buddy, love you, think the world of you, but please take a shot before 17 seconds left in the match.

I'm also extremely happy anytime I see record crowds set anywhere. keep growing wrestling folks. love it.

Like Ironside said, most of our snapdowns are to break ties. We can snap a guy to his knees and don't even attempt a go behind.

Cruz: Not looking as good as last year but got this one done. Should not have been close. C
Ayala: Still very dangerous. Hesitated with the lead in the 3rd. B
Bailey: Wrestling with one hand. Conditioning better. Definitely in it with a top guy. B
Block: Im just happy for this young man with what he has been through. Got the fall. A
Williams: Took the champ to the brink and shows more confidence. Liking what we seeing. B
Cali: Majored a top 10 and a ref in one match. Incredible. A
PK: Wore Minto out but I was waiting for the kill in the 3rd. Shouldn't have been this close. C
GA: Wow. He is getting his wrestling mojo back. Aggressive and excellent win. Dual was on the line. A
Brody: Dont care what ended it but go get Mo back. Early was good fight but couldnt finish. D
BK: Wrestled AJ about as good as he is capable. Great double leg but no finish. Loved the prayer. B

Angel: Been enough said. NCAA should be checking this. Its bias, not ignorance. F-
Fans: Broke a record attendance, they were into it pretty good. Heard some Hawk chanting. A
Announcers: Seem like they are getting better at it, not regurgitating same ole. Still too much PSU blah. B
Brands: Was right on every argument with Angel. Had team ready to go get it. A
Team: Best they looked this year. Bring in the Larkins and keep the string going next year. A

Did you attend in person? Would have loved to be there because N fans were expecting to celebrate the end of a long losing streak vs. Iowa. Well I yearn to revel in Nebraska fan dejection and misery and it doesnā€™t get much better than this if the sad faces seen on TV are any indication.

I don't get to listen to Ironside - wish I could! He was a master at using a snap down for offense.

Seems a waste to me to snap the guy in order to get back to a collar tie. Maddening.

Was very nice seeing this group of turds walk out after the Arnold match. I did make one comment on their record setting attendance of 7800. :)

Just speculation, but I wonder if 125 is a big pull for him so they are limiting the number of weigh ins for him over the 5 month season?! Did he weigh in Friday Corby? If not he must be dinged up a little.

It was nice to see brands telling Ayala ā€œyouā€™re backā€ after his match. His resume says heā€™s got the skills just seems the confidence is lacking this year from the losses.
Bailey has got one hand, canā€™t wait to see if he gets full use of both back
Williams is one slick dude but I have absolutely no idea what his matches will ever bring
BK just what is there to say, no offense last night, no offense ever. I donā€™t see him gritting out overtime or ride out wins in march.

I have to believe that there is something limiting his ability to go 100% or anywhere near there? He did have the injury(hip?) that can be having an effect on his training? It is an odd situation I just hope they figure it out!!!

Does Bailey have one hand? Iā€™ve seen a few posters say he always tapes one no matter what, but I donā€™t know for sure

Yes, plus another one he tapes alot. Since others have said he's always taped it up alot, even before Iowa, wonder if he just has some old non-fixable injury or even birth oddity that puts 1 finger/joint at high risk of dislocation, so it's slways taped to reduce that chance.
