commercial jersey patches on college jerseys

Herbstreit: "John Smith, #33, the Texaco running back for Texas A&M just went downhill at top speed into the line of scrimmage. Did I mention that he is a downhill runner?". Kinda rolls right off the tongue. :)

Can the players switch out their patches at halftime if they are having a good game? Ya know, after they make a phone call from the locker room to see who the highest bidder is at the break. :) Kidding, not kidding.

Ugh, I'd hate to see a commercial patch on our jerseys. Always felt like college was a place that shouldn't be touched by that. But NIL has kind of thrown everything out of the window.

Nike has been around forever. ANF is Farm Bureau. Why not others. MLB does it.
Actually, all major pro sports do it except the NFL, and I would guess they'll hop on the jersey ad train sooner than later. Don't love it, but it's barely a footnote in the mess that is sports and the country in general right now.

Good question! Much easier to come up with bad ones (like Dude wipes, and whatever that peyronie disease medicine is).
A couple years ago, one of the sponsors on Cubs' radio broadcasts was NorthShore Adult Diapers. I'm not kidding. The boadcasters had quite a time reading those ads.

Bit of a strange question to ask, it's their gear that we're using. Same with the riddell helmets the team uses. Of course their logo will be on there. That's much different than a random business patch affixed to the jersey.
Yes, its Nikes gear for example and those are deals struck with the team and not players. Of course there could be conflicts. Example CC22 had a gatorade contract, and Iowa has Powerade as a sponsor. I think she had to hide it on the bench or something along those lines. It would be interesting if she had a gatorade patch on her jersey and Iowa had Powerade as a sponsor.....

And there weren’t contracts with those teams to make sure they were worn right??? No contracts with coaches to wear their gear?

They manufacture the jerseys. They are not direct sponsors paying the schools money to have their logo there. They simply provide the jerseys and put their logo on it.
Whut? Nike absolutely pays the schools it has a logo on.

Will this be part of NIL for a particular player or a big donation to the program. To me it will be the rich get richer. See Oregon, Indiana etc

I'd love to see each position group have their own sponsors. "The Iowa offensive line sponsored by Caterpillar paving the way on that long TD run for Moulton, brought to you by Mercedes-Benz". lmao
