Pretty good game for 3.5 quarters, then just about everyone wearing IOWA seemed to forget how to play--or coach--basketball. But to give up a 17-point lead and then have the guts to come back and win pretty easily in OT, hitting a bunch of clutch free throws on the road, was tremendously impressive.

Stremlow had a brief stretch where she was fantastic, and so did Houston. McCabe had her best shooting night in quite a while. All of those performances were crucial in coming home with a win.

Iowa was the underdog on the road to the #15 team in the country. ESPN gave Iowa about a 30% chance to win. The Hawkeyes won. That's the bottom line.

But yes, they absolutely have plenty of room for improvement, which is exciting since they're already #10 and undefeated in the BIG. Learn the lessons from this gritty win and blast Ohio State.

In 1996 we went 27-4, 15-1 in the conference to win the regular season title outright. Lost in the tournament semies against Purdue and made it to the Sweet 16 as a 2 seed before losing to 3 seeded Vanderbilt.

It was Angie Lee's first season as head coach, taking over for Hall of Famer C. Vivian Stringer.

Btw, hidden gem DYK, the women's conference tournament predates the men's conference tournament. The first B10 women's tournament took place the year prior in 1995. The men held out along with the Pac 10 until they caved in and began play in 1998. The Pac 10 finally brought back its conference tournament in 2002.

Doesn't get easier, #12 OSU on Sunday. Then we head out West. Gritty team.
I like OSU at home more than OSU on the road. I think the USC game will be tough because of travel, but they're unraveling in big ten play. I think we have a solid shot at 2-0 in the next 2 games. UCLA will be a real challenge, though.

CC Wright was the most crucial player IMO and I would credit her with the win in OT. She should have possession of the ball as much as possible at the end of close games.

Agree 100%. Still, in watching the replay, it appears Chit Chat did not know the game was tied at the end of regulation as she is crossing half court. Rather than head toward the basket, she dribbles toward the scorer’s table.

They gave up a 17 point lead with just over 3 minutes left in the game. Never seen so much carelessness and incompetence in such a short stretch. Glad they won in OT but damn...
That was a brutal stretch. Just careless *** lackadaisical passing and trying to run out the clock. I was so pissed and thought they deserved to lose playing like that. But I'm glad they got it together in overtime. Good win on the road, but that was alarming.

Quick question - with 5 seconds left before half after a Maryland made bucket, and 4 timeouts, why wouldn’t they use one to advance to half court to get a better look at a shot?

The rule for advancing the ball only applies to the last minute of the game, Not an option at the end of half.

She was trying to get it to KF.

Learning the lessons would be great, it just seems like we've seen this in several games and you'd think it would have sunk in by now...

I'm trying to remember when Stremlow was fantastic. But I'm having a hard time.

You can only advance the ball in the last minute of the game and that is only if you have not passed or dribbled the ball.

Still don't think she was net positive
She had kind of a mixed outing. On the positive side she was 3-4 for 7 points with one rebound and 2 assists in just 7 minutes. That's really great production. On the negative side she also had 2 turnovers in just 7 minutes. I think she was a net positive, but the turnovers detracted from her performance.
