Doesn’t seem hidden. He’s straight up against it. So much for that one guy joining. Or any guy. You know what let’s get college and high school commits first before worrying about pros.

Or maybe he’s waiting for the NCAA to give the green light. Either way .. Ik not to get my hopes up over adding a stud this season.

Watch, as soon as UK does it, all of a sudden its against the rules and the NCAA will sue lol. Classic.

But seriously. This is why Mitch hired Pope. Because he can control Pope and knows Pope will be on his leash.

Why is Nate Oats doing it? Because he wants to win. He cares about winning. I know Pope wants to do it the right way. However, doing it the "right way" with all of these allowed loop holes, we will get left in the dust, especially if Pope can't land the top portal guys and 5 star freshman.

Pope would do it if Mitch would allow it is what i think.

EDIT
Mod edited out my comment about mitch after this one ... can't say bad things about mitch now on the new board i guess.

Mitch is a terrible Athletic Director... is that okay mod??? he is awful at his job, putrid, no good. Kentucky would have been way better off the last 20 years probably with any other AD. ... are we not allowed to criticize mitch in this new on3 ksr?

No, Nate Oats is doing it because he’s a haggard drunk-looking loser that ignored a freaking murder because he has no morals and just wanted to win baby. UK wont do it because they aren’t going to cower to Jimmy Joe or Rupert who are hiding behind their computer, insulting the school’s sports leadership and screaming for a title by any means necessary so they can beat their chest and moon their rival co-worker.

He’s not wrong. The tournament is where NCAA holds all the cards. It is an invitational. If they decide Alabama (for example) played an ineligible player they can not invite them to the tournament.
It sounds clever, but I doubt that logic holds up in court if they actually tried it. That would still amount to punishing teams for using players who have rulings stating they can’t legally be excluded from playing, and almost certainly wouldn’t be looked at kindly by the courts who issued those rulings.

I’d laugh my *** off if Selection Sunday came and Alabama and Baylor, so far, weren’t invited. It IS an invitational tournament. If I don’t want you at my birthday party, I won’t invite you. You’re out. I don’t really see where courts could do anything about that.

What are the Sherrill kid or the Williamson kid thinking about this stuff??? That’s right, nothing but dissension will result. They’ve put in the work all year now all of a sudden they sit and watch someone else from the G league come in and play. That’s just downright wrong.

Yep. Pope is a yes-man pure and simple. And sadly he does just well enough to keep his job but not good enough by Kentucky standards. A match made in hell.

I appreciate your accurate Nate Oats quotes. Not sure what the infatuation is with him by many Kentucky fans.

He is right. Now, whether the NCAA will enforce its own rules at tournament time is another question. If they don’t then the rules no longer matter.

I said this exact thing in a thread weeks ago when the Baylor kid became eligible. The NCAA needs to grow some balls and control what they can control. Maybe the courts have taken the "eligibility" piece away from them, but they can't take away who gets to play in their tournament.

Now I need to go brush my teeth and gag for defending the NCAA.

Everyone agrees that the NCAA should do something.
But they won't. They're slow as f*c about everything and this eligibility issue will be no different. Zero reason to believe otherwise.
Until then, Barnhart and Pope are playing by rules that don't exist.
It has nothing to do with integrity or the lack thereof.
Do you want to win? Or do you want to be considered a "nice guy" by strangers on the internet?

And as soon as the NCAA excludes a team with a resume that is obviously warranting a bid, that University will sue and the NCAA will fold.

I hope the NCAA does exclude them b/c then there will be more clarity. Even if Baylor & BAMA sue, the case won't go thru fast enough to add them to the tourney.

If they sue and win, then everyone will know moving forward that it is fair play...not that I agree that they should come back, but at least everyone will know.

I would, too, lmao! Would be absolutely hilarious to see that snarky Oats sitting at home during the tournament! Probably be a lot of our fans butthurt over it, though. They love them some Nate Oats! 🤣

Until you’re excluded from tournament play! I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if they don’t invite Alabama and/or Baylor. I’d rather not take that risk.

you don't think they do their due diligence and look into it? they don't wanna have wins vacated any more than anyone else.

NCAA is a paper tiger. Can't rely on them to do jack sh*t

Due diligence on what?! This has ALWAYS been the rule. Hell, a player hires an NBA agent and they’re done. Never mind actually being drafted and being out of college basketball for 2/3 years.
