Edgy already deleted the initial thread but this topic needs to be discussed. It's such a bad move to take this route and not good for the kid.
Why is it a bad move? I am sure NIL opportunities will be more lucrative playing near Nebraska and the team will be very talented. I think they had 13 D1 recruits last year.
- Let a kid be a kid. Why the rush to grow up?
- He's no where near being ready to play as a true freshman. His body has to bulk up. Again, why the rush?
- People around him are allowing this kid to make everything about him and playing him up to be bigger than he is.
- example - "I'm literally the only QB in the country that calls all his own plays, calls the protections, changes the plays, etc" No way that's accurate
- example - Spend 5 minutes on his twitter account
- Why would NIL opportunities be better leaving Chicagoland to Lincoln? Why is NIL the end all be all?
- This screams that this is all about one person. How about sticking around and finishing what you started with your Carmel teammates and coaches? They are the one's to help you get where you are.
- Kid mentions that he wanted to go play for a coaching staff that will help him grow. Mallards coach went to Hastings College. Carmel's played for the Chicago Bears and currently works for the Chicago Bears.
- Competition is far superior in the CCL compared to the schedule Mallard plays. Mallard didn't have one competitive game all season.
- How is living over an hour away from your hs a good thing? He will live in Lincoln and go to school in Omaha.
- He mentions being able to meet with coaches on gameday to learn the playbook. No coach would ever do this.
- Coaches who recruited him will most likely not even be there when he's there.
The days of letting a kid be a kid and finishing what you started with your friends are long gone. It's all about the all might dollar these days and if this gets the kid a leg up that ends up netting him extra cash what's wrong with that?
Living an hour away is far greater than taking a plane every weekend to attend games.
Why would no coach offer assistance when learning the playbook to a recruit?

Truer words have never been spoken, but in this instance I don't see what the issue is here. The nostalgic days of HS football are gone, specifically for high end prospects.
He's not a trailblazer here and if they have the means to make the move and it gets the young man more NIL money more power to him.
I hope he does. This is a recruiting site and when a family does something like this they open themselves up for discussion.
Why are you clutching your pearls, he isn't the first player to do this and there's nothing wrong with this. He wants to get a leg up on his future and work to help recruit other players to Nebraska, what's the problem?
No this is a high school site focused on football including both recruiting and team coverage. Big difference.
Simple. Stay at your current HS thru fall and maybe part of spring semester. Graduate early. Move to your college in time for spring workouts. This is pretty common these days and I don’t see the advantage of moving before senior year. I highly doubt this was Nebraska’s idea
He's already going to be an early enrollee. He wants to be close to school to help recruit, work with his future coaches, and go to games.
So I never did see if anyone answered my question in the other thread. Who's up next for CCHS?

He will make more guaranteed money playing in Nebraska as a Nebraska recruit. Might as well take the money now as you never know if you will get injured or recruited over.
Is it possible that him leaving Illinois is Pritzker fault???

Family gonna move to Nebraska. Potentially better financial opportunities. Big deal. They should do what’s best for themselves

Believe they have a fresh last name, Yang. People were high on him, boom and throw it deep kid. I would imagine him being a 3 year starter.
If you look around the washout rate for highly rated QBs that transfer to get ready for college is pretty high. He is trying use this as a Redshirt year but if Nebraska goes 9-3 or so next year and feel they are close they are 100% going to the portal to get an expirenced QB, then what? Everyone is looking for some type of edge when in reality they should just enjoy the ride since the cream rises to the top at college and everything that happens before it is meaningless.

We can like or dislike the current environment but it is what it is right now. It's about setting yourself up to get as much $ right damn now.
But you know what is best for him, got it.
He has a brain, which automatically removes him from our applicant pool.
2. He still has a year of high school ball to bulk up and mature. Also, living in Lincoln, im sure the Neb coaches can be much more involved in his development.
4. The NIL advantages are probably the most obvious. Go to Lincoln for a year. Become a presence in the community and build the relationships with the local businesses now without having the time constraints of college football.
5. That sounds very cliche and alot of coach speak. He's given plenty to CCHS. I dont really feel like he owes them anything.
6. McKie was a rb and a sideline reporter for Bears radio. Not really seeing obvious advantages there in a qbs personal development.
8. He's in Lincoln for the Nebraska coaching staff obviously. But lets not act like some CCL kids don't have an hour commute to school in the morning.
Maybe you wouldnt make that decision for your kid. Doesn't mean its a bad decision for him.

Yes. You are questioning why a 4* qb who is committed to Nebraska may want to spend his Sr year in Lincoln. The advantages are obvious.
