If and/or he plays again he needs to come off the bench in a role similar to Dioubate and just give us energy and defensive presence. Preferably when we have a lead, and not in the last 5 minutes of the game. All for him playing if he can, but use him in the right context.

Maybe I need to speak for myself. But I don’t need an update on JQ every game. I think we all assume he’s out. Sitting out or out for swelling we have accepted we won’t see him.
I would personally only like to hear about JQ when he’s available. We know he’s not playing against Texas. Or anybody else for that matter… sure we will take the five minutes he gives us in a couple games before his knee is swelling again.

Swelling is not uncommon post ACL, but eventually you just have to play thru it at some point
He must have a common case of "mock-draftitis."
I'm fine with him not playing. And if or when he does, as a poster above said, he needs to know his role. It's an off the bench defend, rebound and get put backs. Zero offense needs to run thru him.

I'd prefer a 100% healthy JQ for the SEC tourney and possibly NCAA tourney than an 80% JQ against this weeks opponents. Not saying we will, but we should be able to win these two without him. No risk in rushing him back before next week, when we definitely could use him on the floor. But even then, it'll be as a role player with shortened minutes spelling Moreno. It's not like our offense will drastically get better with him on the floor, and the defense only marginally until he gets comfortable on his knee again.
To be honest I didn't read or listen to what he said. Just saw that he wasn't happy. And I could be wrong but I'm starting to lean it's not totally a knee issue but his camp not happy with usuage and what could be seen by them as hurting his stock. Again, I'm fine with him not playing.
If Rainmaker is legit and truthful, and I do believe that is the case, there is a good chance we'll see JQ play again this year. So, based on that I take "super optimistic" he'll be back soon as positive words. You just have to want to be pessimistic to translate that into "he'd done".
That doesn't mean the expectations will be the same if he plays again. He will not be the starting center that leads us to a final four; his minutes will be limited and the best we can hope for is him being a strong backup to MM and giving some energy off the bench. And that's fine because I think, by tournament time, MM will be our best center since KAT. His game and confidence are growing like weeds.

I'm given the benefit of the doubt that he'll play for one reason and that has nobody thought he was gonna play this year at all and Pope keep giving updates and everybody still doubted and then he played. I want him to play, but I'm not sure how he fits in at this time..
Right there with you. I don’t need an update repeatedly telling me what I already know. Just checkin at the scorer’s table when he is ready.

Tbh those saying we don’t need him back or not worried if he don’t come back, I’m on the other end. His play against St. John’s and his physicality at full health is much needed for this team. I’d like to get him back but he needs to get to full strength by sec tourney. I’d love to see him and moreno out there scrapping.
Get to the game early and watch him walk around in his uniform jumpsuit
Pope's body language and demeanor in press conferences is so uninspiring. Just watched the JQ portion from today and he is brutal to watch / listen to. No tenacity, no next man up, you'd think we just lost by 30 to Tennessee. I had to stop watching because he's just so sad looking.
I think most of us just don't won't the drama or distraction with in the team chemistry we have played with lately. If JQ would just come out and say he is playing for sure, might help. He would help, if Daddy don't won't him bringing the ball up the court. 8 or 10 rebounds 2 blocks and several shot changes, and some nasty throw back dunks a game, he would help
Who cares! We’ve all seen what he brings… He’s a serviceable defensive presence with a pros body, and the offensive skill set of an 8th grader!
He’s clearly faking and jiving his way to the League, and Pope got the same boner a few GM’s got when they envisioned his “potential”, when they saw how physically mature he was for his age!

Would be a killer guy off the bench for MM especially if he sticks to what he does well. Would be tough for other teams.
I believe this too, been thinking it for a while. Right after he tweeted that it seemed like he started not to play.
Did JQ think he was gonna miss half the season and then come take over the team as he’s knocking the rust off ?
I was saying earlier I think JQ wants to bring the ball up full court throw it off the backboard for a self alley oop every play.
I hope Pope didn’t promise JQ he could throw alley oops to himself right off the bat.

I think we are realizing that our coaches have to make quite a few promises to bring talent to the commonwealth.
I was sure hoping for more then a bench man, but I'm not convinced he plays again. I think most of us don't believe he will, it would be a surprise if he does.
I think it's best to just roll with what we have at this point.

Maybe JQ is waiting to see if we are for sure gonna make the tournament. Make sure if he decides to come back he will have march madness to shine? Why risk coming back if only for the NIT possibly?
Count me as one who expects JQ to not suit up for us again, and if he does, it’s a pleasant surprise.

How can you rehab a knee for 9 mths and still return a terrible FT shooter and not be able to shoot outside of 2 feet?
