Crazy. Mendoza might be a robot, after seeing his interview, but a tough QB though. Miami was a lot better than everyone expected, especially the defense, and impressive OL play by the Canes. Beck made a bad decision in the end or it looked like they had the time to get close to the winning TD.

What's to question. Its NIL.

Cignetti is a very good coach, but you don't turn a bball school like Indiana into a fball powerhouse without the major influx of cash from Cuban & Mellencamp.
Once again, that big influx of cash only really happened just at the end of this season. Mendoza is the only top 100 portal player they’ve had the last two years. Cuban has only primarily donated to the business school until now.

Shades of Caleb (Bears) last nite…and yes, I think Mendoza is a bot….😉

He reminds me Dani Rojas from Ted Lasso.

Thank you. The majority of players on that team were not top NIL targets. Many of them followed Cig from JMU.

On 3rd & 5 with 2:06 to go in the game (Iowa & Indiana were tied at 13), Kirk DID NOT turtle up.

After the game, OC Tim Lester said this on the screen call vs IU: "It was there. It would've been a touchdown (where Iowa would have gone up 20-13 with under 2 minutes to play)."

Our starting QB was out with a knee injury; nevertheless, it was a play backup QB Hank Brown should have made. It was an easy throw. The coaches were playing to win with a play that was perfectly set up & according to Tim Lester would have resulted in a TD.

The next play (on 4th & 5), of course, was a 42 yard missed Drew Stevens FG.

Weak and disingenuous reaction.

Lots of schools have money. NIL improved IU's roster, but they still didn't have nearly the raw talent that the other top 10 teams had.

Bottom line is that, as much as you might hate it, Cignetti is the real deal and HE is the reason why Indiana is where they are tonight.

If happened in 2024 Cuban had a one on one with Cignetti. See the 60 Minutes interview with the Hoosiers AD on YouTube. $60M. Thanks Mark.

“It takes a village. It takes money,” Cignetti said before the national championship. “But it’s not all about money. We’ve got a lot of alums, a lot of rich alums. Mark Cuban is a very visible guy. … We kind of hit it off right off the bat. He’s got instant recognition, which only helps.”

Cignetti told CBS Sports. "I think our little pot of gold is pretty nice, but we're not at $40 million.

And his reward will be being shipped off to the Raiders. I feel bad for the kid.

I cannot believe Indiana won a national championship in football. As of a few years ago, I would’ve said that’d be impossible to see in my lifetime. I would’ve said it would be more likely that Purdue wins one (but also likely impossible).

As an Iowa fan, I am very envious. But can you imagine how Nebraska fans are feeling? So many fan bases look at Indiana and say “that could be us.”

For so long, college football was dominated by just a few teams. I understand why many fans hate the NIL / transfers portal era, but it has increased the pool of teams that can win a national championship.
