Olivieri weighed in but did not come out for the pre-match handshake and wasn’t introduced. With the Scarlet Knights trailing, 15-12, and two weights to go, it was redshirt freshman Mason Gibson and not Olivieri who took the mat at 141 against All-American Dylan Ragusin.

"“Let’s just focus on the other guys,” said Goodale."

This whole thing just gets more and more curious. I didn't see Olivieri behind the bench at the match and I checked multiple times. Maybe I missed him.

The university as a whole does such a poor job with PR. There’s no reason that this shouldn’t have been addressed at some point over the past month. The longer this drags on the more the media will create rumors and drama.

I suspect he just wasn't ready to perform after all that time off. He didn't want to lose to Ragusin.
If he isn't banned from the practice room due to whatever is going on, he is ready. If he is allowed to practice, they would have him simulating the same schedule as if he was in the lineup. We did this regularly back in the day. If we had a dual meet, anybody who was in the lineup or potentially in the lineup would weigh in. All other guys would weigh in and have to be within 5 pounds of their weight class. This kept guys close to weight and also eating correctly and training hard. These guys would have a full practice after the weigh in and during that practice would have a full match in the practice room. The winners were done and then the losers had to wrestle another full match before they were done. So there was incentive to win besides just the normal competitiveness. If Joey is going full tilt with the training partners in the room everyday, he is ready to compete in a dual. You can't duplicate the fans and adrenaline of the match environment, but once the whistle blows you block all that out anyway

So what’s the issue? Why keep it quiet? If we are giving to NIL and kids are getting paid, I believe we are entitled to learn where our
money goes.I don’t want to support someone who has broken rules or is on academic probation. Just want to know my money is supporting someone in good standing. Not saying Joey broke a rule or is not in good academic standing.

I can’t imagine it’s academics. 1 no one gets suspended for grades anymore across all sports and 2. hasn’t Joey been out across multiple semesters anyway?

Exactly. No way this is academics. The staff is too tight lipped about this which tells me that A)It is serious and they are hoping we forget about and it gets swept under the carpet or B) If is academics, he must of or is failing/failed out of school. No academic issue takes this long.

Not academics
Come on Bill, we as alum, fans and donors need to know something. If its disciplinary or academics, fine lets get it fixed and we will stand behind him 100%. To have this tight lipped narrative with us though, who gave and give alot to Rutgers, is unfair...and rightfully creates these speculations and scenarios.Case in point...AJ Ferrari legals rumors swirlled around, it got exposed, and taken care of.With all this hush hushness, tells me that it is serious.

Captain copy and paste.Ran out of material there you South Jersey shortload? I know its hard to come up with new material, with limited frontal lobe development, but give it a try.Whats it like knowing that you have zero life and athletic accomplisments? The one life you have you spend in anger , resentment and jealousy , of great athletes accomplishments.Very sad there, Matt the South Jersey dirtball.

As I’ve told you before, you are nobody to be jealous of Whereas you aren’t even welcome at a school that you supposedly were all American and there’s a reason for that and we all know what it is… you’re nothing but a drunk who comes on here spouting lies about just about everything …everything that comes out of your mouth is either a lie or some homophobic line aimed at Goody our wrestlers or guys who call you out for your lies… you’re accomplishments mean nothing on this forum because you don’t carry yourself like the honored all American you say you were, which is why nobody pays attention to anything you have to say

I just hope that there is not a “N.J.S.A. 2C: . . .” tucked somewhere within the real reason.
OK you're going to have to refresh my memory on the NJ high school rule book, what in the hell is N.J.S.A. 2C? At this point either kick the kid off the fv*king team or let him wrestle, enough of this in limbo sh*t.

That's the NJ criminal code. Not sure why someone else would add to the noise without actual info.

Hope he gets back soon. He was wrestling well after finishing last season strong. I really thought this was his year. Still can be. Absense might turn out beneficial.
