In that interview today with Zach Gelb on YouTube Rhule said he's hiring Miles Taylor for safeties from the Chargers. Spent 5 years at South Dakota previously, with Aurich for a couple seasons.

Still need an assistant coach for in-game decisions.

Rhule did hire White and actually hit homeruns with his DT and DB coach in his first year. The defense was legit and turned around over night, and was even better the next year, outside of "losing" their db coach. Replacing the db coach was the really the beginning of the end with White as friction began immediately between the pressure that White wanted to bring and how exposed the dbs were going to be...the sport was moving hard in the NFL towards two deep safeties 100% of the time, which limits the creativity of pressures, especially when you don't have a lot of pressure from your front 3. Losing White, caused us to lose pork chop, which was a big loss, and promoting the db coach, who wasn't really respected by the defense, cost us some more talent. Defense is the one area that Rhule has hired really well though, so maybe, just maybe, he'll hit lightning in the bottle and we can go back to decent football like 2 years ago. Philosophically, giving up 7 ypc is just unwatchable, even if it works against impatient OCs who still throw into coverage. And of course, when teams buckle down and stick with the run we get killed.

How do you know Butler wasn’t respected by the defense? Rhule said plenty of players came up to him and recommended he hire Butler.

We were a few minutes into the second quarter of the bowl game and I said to my brother “it’s about time to call a time out, isn’t it?” I swear Rhule called two timeouts in the next three minutes. I could be off on that, but that’s what I remember. I actually laughed out loud.

Depends on the coordinator in my opinion. If he’s someone that bring passion and fire, then I like him on the sideline. If he had Marcus Satterfield energy, then up in the box

The saying is "catch lightning in a bottle". ;) We've been attempting to do that since TO retired.
Well, you have all seen the picture of Ben Franklin holding the kite and the key in the jar? The part of that story left on the cutting room floor were all they dozens of thunderstorms he stood through before that lightning strike finely found his kite. Stand out in the rain long enough and sooner or later lighting has to strike our kite.

With Nebraska football, small steps are important. We aren't winning the big 10 or going to playoffs, but being competitive against good teams, going 5-20 in decade against top 25 teams would be a huge improvement.

Hiring another coach makes no sense it’s not going to stop the boat from sinking, I still hope Rhule succeeds but especially this offseason some of his decisions are a wtf . And I’ll support the team come this fall and if Rhule gets fired then I’ll support the next coach. I’m not a big donor and constant complaining all it does is make yourself more angry that’s no way to live life there are a lot more things in life than a football team

If rumors are true that ek wanted a position to help the defense besides special teams coach why didn’t Rhule give that to ek instead of hiring someone else. That is a boneheaded mistake if rumors are true
Unless “ek” sucks at coaching safetys

The position EK coaches on Defense was not open so Rhule didn’t hire anyone over EK

First of all it’s Pot Roast. Pork Chop was Corey Ross. Not that it matters. Those 2 didn’t do squat at FSU with a weaker schedule and more talent

Tony took one of the worst defenses in the nation and made them average at FSU. Even Bo took us from last to middle in his first year at Nebraska. The big jump didn't occur until the 2nd year. Tony might be stubborn or an ahole or always wanting to leave for a head coaching job but he is one of the best DCs in the nation. Nebraska had him, he left for a much worse situation. That says a lot about how Rhule "leads".

According to some inside he left for other reasons other then football. He is far from one of the best DCs in the country

I still hope rhule wins games..but he best get busy..
I understand rhule got drilled in his last 3 games,,but it's not like them teams sucked...(well expect maybe iowa, but thats a perminate condition)
so I understand the bitching, and it is the internet...

but I maybe wavering between judge in 27 and sitting on the fence...
but I'm nowhere close to fire everyone all the time..
