Makes sense. Myslinski is a little small so who are the starting guards ?

That’s a good question. He’s definitely on the small side at guard. Maybe MM will hang it up or is okay being the backup?? Must like their options though which is a good sign

I think MM will be the backup and provide depth for injury or if they want to slide KP over. KP is a monster probably could play all five positions at a high level. Will go high in first round as a center

Pieper was recruited as a guard, wasn't he? I thought that was always the position he was projected to end at, and was just playing guard to get our best five guys out there.

Might slide some of the bigger dudes in at guard. I like 6-5 315 at guard like BS was.

Lucas Allgeyer was turning heads as a true freshman and have heard good things (on the boards) about Will Nolan as well and both are much bigger than Jones and Myslinski.
He would be My guess on who moves inside and starts at the Guard spot opposite Jones but until Spring ball and Fall camp are concluded it is just guesses, Guys get hurt and Guys rise and fall

I think Wilson was brought in as a developmental piece. I’d say it is more likely that Allgeyer or Nolan has the inside track there.
I'm fine with that also. I hope he is correct but do remember Leistikow on his show saying Barnett said Leighton Jones would start for over half the BigTen

I heard that KF singled out Allgeyer several times during fall camp as one to watch. Reload that OL and let those RB's run! Wow, didn't realize Lucas had quite a few P4 offers (Neb/Washington/Iowa State/K State/MSU/Miami/Ole Miss). All State senior year and played DL too..interesting.

From Matt Zenitz, a national NFL/college football Senior Reporter for CBS Sports:

After playing right guard for Iowa this season, Pieper is set to make the move to center for the Hawkeyes next season, per sources.

The belief is that he’ll have a strong chance to end up being Iowa’s latest first-round draft pick from the center position.

I didn’t know that was on the table. Glad we dodged that bullet.
I don't think it really was. Hadn't seen him graded anywhere.

Top OL for Iowa in this years draft currently:

Logan Jones = Possible late 1st, probable early 2nd
Gennings Dunker = Probable late 2nd to early 3rd
Beau Stephens = Possible late 3rd to mid 4th

That would only be because it was known he was not coming out this year, most reports I’ve seen KP would be drafted pretty high.

I thought the same. CBS's Mike Renner had him graded as the #40 overall draft prospect for this year's draft, which seemed very odd to me. It didn't even have another Iowa OL in the top 100, and had Mendoza at #3. Am I missing something or is this list just strange?

I trust Barnett on this one. It was always going to be hard to replace someone as good as Logan Jones.
That's what we said about Tyler Linderbaum, especially when we found out Logan Jones was gonna be his replacement..............

But hey whoever takes over, then, should become a Rimington finalist in four years or so because we can wait that long. 😃😃😃😃

I'm sure we'll have a dedicated thread before Draft Day, but here are my early predictions...

Logan Jones = 35-55, 1/2 Rd
Gennings Dunker = 95-115, 2/3 RD
Max Llewellyn = 110-130, 3/4 RD
TJ Hall = 125-150, 4/5 RD
Beau Stephens = 135-160, 5/6 RD
Aaron Graves = 150-175, 5/6 RD
Xavier Nwankpa = 185-210, 6/7 RD
Kaden Wetjen = 200-225, 7/FA
Karson Sharar = 300-350, FA
Drew Stevens = 400-500, FA
Mark Gronowski = 500+, FA
