Not sure what he'll do here, but considering nobody expected Dayton Raiola to actually ever play here, feels like at worst this is a side-grade with possibly more potential as a replacement for the 2026 class.

His other offers were temple, Arkansas state, Air Force and army. He is a depth piece. An emergency backup. Maybe with development and redshirting he can be a dude one day.
What do those schools do offensively? Answer: Run the QB. It isn’t just this board that’s in Rhule and Dana’s ears about a QB run game. You take an athlete like that and see how he develops. Very nice late pickup.

Makes no sense to me why Nebraska got away from the power run game and option. It should always be apart of it's identity just with a more sophisticated passing game. It's no different from what Indiana is doing now. Identity identity identity....

We need an athlete who can legitimately run/scramble to run our scout team so our defense can figure out how to not give up a 16 yard quarterback scramble on 3rd and 15. I'd tie his NIL money to how many of those we give up next year. $10,000 for each game that doesn't happen.

It is 100% this board, and the old Red Sea Scrolls. They went and looked at the archived "RUN THE BAAAAWL!" posts and were converted.

I am not sure it is that linear with regards to QB run game. If you watch really fast and athletic QBs in high school, they depend on their legs a lot. Especially when the first read isn't open. They have relied on their legs their entire career. If you want a QB with mobility, who has a decently strong arm and can run it is easier to mold that QB into a better passer rather than taking a QB who is a prolific passer, but is immobile and molding him into a QB that can run when necessary.

Even Raiola would be a dual threat quarterback against our defense.

I think we seriously upgraded our QB room
Suspect that is perhaps true but there is only so much NIL money to go around and the same for playing time. Will be difficult for most teams to keep more than say three QB's on the roster due to lack of funds and each wants to play. They all believe they will play in the NFL one day, LOL!

This board is awful. It really offers nothing in the way of good posters. Run the ball! Good grief.

I actually think there might be a hint of truth in this. Rhule is two years behind where he should be due to the Riola detour.
No chance. I just believe that Holgersen just wants to run an offense that can utilize the QB out of the pocket. It opens up the defense quite a bit because the defense will have to account for the QB. With Raiola the defense didn't respect him in the run game and could devote another player into coverage.

Don’t disagree. Still like an explosive athlete at QB in the college game such as TMart. His inaccuracy drove me crazy but his decision making was worse. That said, he was a nightmare for DCs to defend.

There was a lot of hype for Smothers too
Smothers had some great games at his next school. Inconsistent from game to game but showed he had some talent. I watched one game where he had I think 3 TD passes and 2 TD runs including the game winner in OT. Next game he probably threw 3 INTs.

Wrong, TMart made good decisions for the most part and was accurate enough. And yes, his legs were deadly. Best QB we've had here since Crouch.

TMart was overrated. Dude would toss the ball up for grabs in order to avoid a sack on 1st down. And who needs a self-centered introvert as the leader of your offense?

He's not even top three. Hell, I would take five others over that flake.
Armstrong for sure in my mind and TA was far from perfect but he was a great leader. TMart was in fact a different guy. A friend of mine’s son was engaged to Lauren Cook’s roommate when she was “dating” TMart. He had some interesting stories. 😁

Bo’s conflict with the media didn’t help the TMart. IMO he adopted a very defensive attitude with media types that threw him nothing but softballs. Gifted athlete but his social skills weren’t very developed.
