Verghese has it as Evans and four portal guys on the starting line. Would think we will see more portal activity from the existing OL roster. The 2023 group only has two more years to play.
Unless they know they're not good enough to really go anywhere else and are happy to get education here and all the cushy perks

IF your goal is to be starting older players, Frosts last two O line classes were extremely weak as was Rhule’s first O line class. IF Gottula returns at 100%, I think he’ll be tough to beat out at right guard.

Apparently Geep and Lonnie saw all they needed to see during bowl practices.

Major and needed upgrades.

Now, one or two more DL please!
I seem to always go back to pre-season of this last year and all the hype internally about how good our offensive line could be and really think it had to stem from the fact that our defensive front was terrible and the coaching staff assumed it was as good as previous years.

It is disheartening to see having to bring in multiple portal OL every year when Rhule stressed having to develop your OL over time. They haven't developed squat.

Maybe not anymore this portal season, but with the years of eligibility remaining for several of the incoming OLinemen, I think you're going to see guys like Brix and other highly touted redshirts hitting the portal next winter.

TBD, I guess.

I don't know but it seems like the additions to the OL is building up to see a very good RB transfer in, perhaps. 🤷‍♂️

Agree. The Good news is the problem has left the building. Rhule sold his OL soul for a headline quarterback.
The "problems" plural; ie Donnie AND Dylan. We haven't had an OL friendly QB in awhile. We've been one-dimensional Rhule's entire time here. No on to blame but Rhule himself, but it sucks to be an offensive line if the D isn't afraid of the pass (Haarberg) or isn't afraid of the run (Raiola). I can't say I'm looking forward to next season already because I'm enjoying the break from weekly azz-whippings, but I will be interested to see Colandrea operating with this line next year.

And how much can this help an average RB room become more serviceable when there are actual holes to hit. Of course get a homerun kind of guy but improved line play HAS to help mediocre RB play to some degree. It can go both ways... a bad OLine neuters a good but not great RB room

So you're saying the additions are bad so no need to go after a great RB, OK.

Rhule’s first O line class sucked. Frost’s last O line class sucked. The last two classes had some legit prospects in it but none of them have played yet except Brix on special teams as far as I know. I think there’s potential there but we’ve signed some guys with a lot starts. Experience matters. This will be year 3 for some of those kids. The juniors to be need to work themselves on to the 2 deep.

They need to climb the depth chart. Best guy plays.

Lots to look forward to next fall. My expectations are reasonably low. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we win more than 6 with that schedule.

Except imagine the grief this coaching staff takes if they're spending big $$$ on guys to ride the bench?

Portal guys will start over RS freshmen. In fact, the RS freshmen will see it as a vote of no confidence.

Brix is probably gone. Just not this year.

I don’t believe we’re spending big money on a 3* guard. I guess one has to define big money. No doubt you have to offer something for a guy who has started double digit games for LSU. IF he doesn’t pan out, maybe our GM’s head needs to roll. The guy from ISU will start barring injury. My HOPE is that we start to see guys like Brix getting reps in games were either getting blown out in or are comfortably ahead. My expectation is we’ll have more games where we’re getting blown out than games we’re comfortably ahead. 😕

It would be a complete waste if not. To have the OL room finally not be barren to then just having the RB room come up far short... would totally suck.
