RAC Indiana Game Tix Insane Prices

If anyone wants to make some extra cash, some worldwide famous Anime show is coming to the RAC for the halftime show for the Indiana game. The cheapest ticket on SeatGeek right now is $300 in the 300s with most tickets 4-500 and some up to $1000. If you don’t care about seeing the game and want to make back your season ticket $$, some 20 year old geek will pay top dollar!

sadly, I wish it was any other game. Indiana is our big “rival” in basketball I feel like with how much we own them, and is usually one of the best atmospheres of the year. It will feel like Disney on Ice in there now.

Same anime group is performing at RAC on January 27 and February 7, when Rutgers plays Michigan State and Nebraska.

Let's see if Keli sees the opportunity and seizes it by opening the RAC to more revenue generating events.

Whoever in the department figured this out deserves a high five. I support it even though I crossed those games off my list due to tix px.

Interesting. My wife decided we're going to NYC on the afternoon of the Nebraska game so I put my tickets on Seat Geek about two weeks ago. They just sold over the weekend so I'm guessing that's when it was announced that this halftime show would be a thing. I got $300 for the pair which isn't a ton for section 115. I should have asked for more, obviously. But some Anime lover is happy.

if you just waited a few days you could have paid for your trip to nyc, a broadway show and dinner at Rao's while still having enough to satsify RutgersAl NIL requirements

Student section will be packed. Students get free One Piece t shirts. Strange the AD hasn't issued a press release on this.

Biggest event in RAC since Caitlin Clark.

Someone told me yesterday at the game they sold their tickets in the 300's for $300!! I had no idea why, now I now why; I actually may not be able to go to the game so your right I may be able to pay for almost half of my season ticket price in one game

I think there is more to it than the halftime, I believe those in attendance also are getting a trading card which if you do some google research those that were made for the Dodgers are going for a pretty penny on EBay.

This article describes the gameday stuff a bit better. In short, unique videos and graphics will be the most notable change for games without the halftime show. I really don't get the complaints about the ticket prices, considering what we went through last year for the **** product on the floor. If you are that against anything animated, then sell your tickets and make some good money for a game we are likely losing anyway.

For those who don't have their manhood threatened by anything animated, One Piece has grown into one of the biggest fictional media franchises available in recent years. Its sales surpassed Harry Potter's book sales a few years back (this may flip back with the HBO show coming out soon) and is closing in on Superman's comic sales. Netflix released season 1 of a live-action version a few years back and season 2 is coming in early March. The briefest explanation of the manga/show possible is "pirates with superpowers", but it also covers themes like found family, racism, usurpation, genocide, rebelling against a tyrannical government, and more. The biggest surprise here is that Rutgers is involved as the collaborations until now have been mostly limited to major brands like the Lakers, Rams, and Raiders.

Who are you arguing with? My concern about this is more about ceding our home court advantage. This will be a tough enough game without a bunch of non-basketball or non-Rutgers fans leaving after halftime because they got their poster, trading card and the show.

The general consensus of the thread? Everyone is painting this as a negative when that is not true. If you want Rutgers to compete with the big schools, then we need to get more money into the program. That is just what college sports are right now. Since we can't seem to get any of the major whale donors involved, we should be doing everything we can on a smaller scale. Sure, some people will come, get what they want, and bail. However, these kinds of collaborations bring new people to Rutgers basketball. There will be people who attend this who have never attended a Rutgers basketball game before and might decide they like it and want to come to more. It may not be a major step forward, but any small step forward feels great considering the constant steps backward the athletic department seemed to be taking for the past couple of years. We should be doing more of these like star wars night, marvel night, "whatever puts butts in seats" night. We are not a big enough brand name to draw a sellout every night so we should be doing everything we can to get more eyes on the program.

The kids go crazy for anime..I guess it started with my generation with dragon Ball z. I thought it was for geeks lol now these kids are using anime themes to start revolutions "the straw hat"..

Because I am WAY past age 20, what is the difference between the "one piece halftime show" listed for the Indiana game vs the show that is happening on the other "match days" vs MSU and Nebraska?

also, "WE ARE" is their theme? is this a penn state group?

Ah ha! Now the truth comes out why PJ Mullen got this done at the RAC! “We Are” performed by our band and cheerleaders. Maybe they’ll play the nittany lion roar while we shoot free throws too!

its not an opinion its actually part of the themes of One Piece...why wouldnt people want to know what something is about that they will encounter at a basketball game
