Why people ***** on here we have no serious depth at QB . Now you ***** when we being in a p4 backpack to create good depth and competition. JFC how to some of you even function in life?

Oh cry a little harder. Where is the fvckking loyalty? These snowflakes run off as soon as there is competition. Then run to another team and another.

Imagine the depth had he stayed and not run off to UVA.

WTF... that's ridiculous.
What? That might be the most positive thing I've seen from the portal yet. He was supposed to be our guy. Stuck with his commitment after Raiola came. Knew he wasn't going to start. Left and now coming back to provide crucial depth.

Straight love it. Perfect 3rd string scenario. Fans will love him. Backup local qb is always a hero. Probably best gig on campus. Can do no wrong.

It’s a little odd, but it’s tough to criticize a 19 year old’s decision to go try to be the starter at an ACC program when he clearly wasn’t going to get a fair shot with Raiola on the roster. I don’t believe he burned any bridges when he left. He very well could have been our starter when Raiola broke his leg😕

I believe we’ve done about as well as we could have at QB and OG so far in the portal. Another Pritchett type talent at OT would be nice. Not sure we’ll be able to land any guys at DT in the portal better than what we have😕
The defensive line news is beyond depressing. Rhule is so incompetent it defies description. Still no line coach? Absurd. No transfers? Of course not when they don’t know who their line coach will be. Rhule just signed his termination notice. If we don’t upgrade our line then we will only win 3 or 4 games next year.

As for Kaelin… meh. Adds depth but it won’t matter. Our defense will be so awful that our offense won’t see the field much.

Rhule hiring pat Stewart from the patriots was a big mistake, Stewart is well known for being cheap and isn’t high on need for a running back. Well who the hell’s The head coach? Frost was totally incompetent but Rhule is coming on fast. Not having an option 2 for a d line coach still nothing announced is just bad management. But what else can we do Rhule is around for next season but if he sucks the money will be found to buy him out the only problem is we’ll lose players and a recruiting class! It’s gotten so bad who would we get for the next coach? Even candidate will look at the nil cash and probably say pass cuz we aren’t up with the likes of Phil knight or Cuban. Nebraska sure picked a terrible time to suck, sadly we’ll never get back to where we once were those days are gone

Love this and was hoping it would happen. He appeared to be one of our best options to grab some additional depth, that has a decent shot at hanging around, without taking up too much of the NIL money unless he wins the job.

The kid wanted to be at NU and Dylan leaving opened that door back up.

Obvious MR has a vision for how they wanted to fill and shape their QB room, and we can go back and forth on that plan or how it actually went....

But just on its face, to say that a 5'10" Mountain West QB is "as well as we could've done" is just rediculous.....I mean just look at the mountains we moved to pay and keep the raoilas happy? We could've done something similar for the next guy if that was the route we chose

Nebraska fans: You can’t be afraid to target someone from a smaller school! Cignetti!!!!!!!!
Also Nebraska fans: He was QB at UNLV? He must be worthless! We only want transfers from big schools!!

Dang man. Glass half full. Let’s wait and see what a different DC can do. Wish we could find our Brian Flores to coach our defense. THAT’s a discussion we should have been having instead of talking about replacements for our head coach that we can’t afford to fire.

Aurich’s resume is EXTREMELY thin but maybe he’s the next great mind. I thought the Vikings reached when they hired a QB coach as their head coach. Turns out he’s pretty good. The 4-2-5 Aurich brings in is probably a better fit for the talent we have on the roster.

No doubt, there will be some growing pains for his guys to learn the changes but at least we’re headed back to something closer to a 4-3. Hopefully it helps us in the run game.

Comparing Cal, 1 year removed from the PAC12 conference, and still playing essentially a full PAC12 schedule......to UNLV playing a MWC schedule with no ranked opponents, is apples to oranges.

And also, throwing out "hes the best we could have done" is different than asking people to keep an open mind about someone from a small school...

I like the Coleandra pick up. I was wishing for a mobile guy who makes plays. He’s not remotely Mendoza but I’m so tired of watching a guy take sacks and refusing to try to run the ball when it’s there. A QB who is a threat with his feet can help his O line tremendously. Would have liked a little bigger guy but beggars can’t be choosers. Actually Kaelin I think may be a better fit than what some imagine. Coleanddra signed so he can’t go anywhere. I’m assuming TJ signed a multi-year deal so he’s probably locked in at least for this next year. Let the competition commence in a few weeks.

average indy player 23 average green bay player 25...I suppose it makes sense having seniors all over the place to pick the best one.
now I'd just wondering about nil micromanaging..
indy is like bama a decade back. except above table and different logo

I solidly disagree with Pennsy's take but Dingle nailed it. Pennsy is just tired of decisions made by the staff that don't seem to make sense. I get that, and somewhat agree with it, but I'm not going to let it blind me to the good things that are happening.
I’m just trying to stay out of despair mode. As with Nebrasketball, don’t get too high. Don’t get too low. Neither state is productive. Try to enjoy the ride. It’s a game.

I like the Kaelin grab too. Colandrea is fine and I hope people are right about him. Im not convinced. TJ could be an early star or he could be a 3 year project, but the talent is there.

The mobile QB is a double edged sword. Guys like Casey Thompson or maybe Tommy Armstrong can create time and space with their legs, and use that to hurt a defense down field or on a bad blitz....Guys like Adrian Martinez and Taylor Martinez(from a scramble POV) seemed to scramble into extra sacks, leave the pocket too early, or not understand that a defense left the middle wide open because they had a spy there waiting.

I don’t care how good Aurich is. Without a defensive line his defense will suck big time. This isn’t rocket science. No line talent = suck. Many folks on here were part of the Pollyanna police back in the offseason when many of us were waving red flags about how our defensive line was going to be a huge liability in 2025. Same accusation: dude, stop being a pessimist! We have good young talent! Except we don’t.
Unless we upgrade our defensive line via the portal we will suck again next year big time. Folks on here can criticize me all you want. But as of now the massive burden of proof is on the optimists. The optimists are the ones not living in reality. They are the ones still weaving fantasy scenarios about undeveloped young talent.

We can use the comparison of Kurt Rourke instead. Dude came fron Ohio, playing a MAC schedule with no ranked opponents.

Pretty solid apples-to-apples comparison, right?
