Seriously? Needs based? So by that logic no one playing lax or hockey squash tennis etc… received aid. Because very few families that are on those rosters qualify for any “needs” based aid. Who said anything about it being labeled as athletic grants. They are grants administered to athletes. Think about this logically. The demographic that plays the sports that IVY excel at and recruit the best are so called “country club sports”. You think all these recruits are paying their own way? And paying full tuition when they can go anywhere else on scholarship. There is no such thing as an athletic grant at any Ivy League institution - period. It’s all need based which also applies to living expenses. If there are sources of athletic money as you suggest it has nothing to do with the AD or Admissions and would violate Ivy League By-Laws unless from an NIL collective and approved if over $2K.
The point w/ recruiting visits is that most Ivies will not even pay for the initial recruiting visit (which pisses off some recruits). You pay your own way and then if you commit they bring the entire committed class back at a later date which is then paid for.
Don’t know what sport you have experience with. Regarding the recruiting process but that is not at all true. They “want” to bring in groups. Just like we do at Rutgers with “official” visit weekends. But they are not waiting until you to sign to pay for your visit.
You realize you’re on an island on this one? Others and I in this thread have pointed out personal experiences regarding IVY.
Plus you attached 2 articles that had nothing to do with what you thought they pertained
