I have no faith in Matt Rhule. His trust has to be earned, especially with how he’s started out.

Losing to Minnesota year 3 isnt part of a rebuild process. Getting boat raced in our final 3 games isn’t a rebuild. Having the worst recruiting class in god knows how long isn’t a rebuild. Having a subpar transfer portal class isn’t a rebuild (sorry it’s just ok, if you think otherwise I bet you’d be happy with anything). Basically replacing all but 2 coaches on your original hires 3 years jn isn’t a rebuild!!!

having said that, I’m still a Husker fan. I’m not spiteful. If he wins fantastic.

but life has taught me “a leopard doesn't change its spots”. Guy’s lost a lot more than he’s won and it’s not even close, especially to good teams

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. That is kind of the level of faith I have. But you never know. Funnier things have happened. If the 1969 Mets can win, anybody can if things go right.

I have the towel in hand. But because of money, I’m nowhere close to throwing it. I just keep checking to see if the towel is long enough to hang myself with.

I’m gonna keep supporting the guy because he’s definitely likable and runs a clean program. But I’m not confident in him turning it around. It’s not his hiring choices or his player preference that concerns me. It’s his gameday brain that concerns me the most. He’s bad. May not be ‘onside kick up 11’ bad but his clock management, timeout usage, challenge usage, and game control are very subpar for a guy who’s been a head coach for 13 years. I don’t see improvement in those areas will ever come, so does it really matter how great a team or supporting staff you have if you can’t manage a game properly? Like having a ‘69 Camaro but can’t drive stick.

If you shitcan Rhule, who would take the job? Rhule has taken a team that was circling the drain and at least stopped the freefall and gotten them back into a bowl in consecutive years. He has an established history of improving college football teams over time. He has kept Nebraska relevant in recruiting and I would say he has improved that considerably over Frost and Riley. He isn’t a drunk and I don’t expect we will hear of him getting any coeds pregnant. The team clearly hasn’t lost trust in him as the portal losses are mostly guys that are recruited over or flakes that would have transferred anywhere. For better or worse we are stuck with him and his huge contract. Might as well hope for the best.

I’m 50/50 I still support him but it’s fading, my biggest issues are some of his assistants hies were are questionable, like the d line coach and him acting like a 20 year old cap on backwards or going to a boxing match instead of prep his team for the next game. If by chance he would read this, act like an adult your the ceo of a major college football team stop saying how everything is great when it’s not. Nebraska fans can handle the truth but don’t want smoke blown up our ***

I have never liked the hire.

The maddening part is he will make one great decision but then follow that up with a bunch of bad decisions..

If you're asking about the long term viability of Rhule here, oh it's completely possible.. the people are dumb enough to keep buying if they like the words of the messenger.

26 is going to tell. Brutal schedule and making a bowl is going to be difficult. A losing season will make the fans turn against him. We'll see if he can coach. Pressure makes diamonds out of coal and Rhule has been delivering a bunch of coal.

Yes.

he’s a loser who gives us no chance. Should’ve never been hired. Can’t believe anyone fell for the Preacher act.

next man up (hopefully in time for ‘27 portal).

anyone saying “I have no control so I’ll just cheer for the team” is a twice baked cuck.

When he was shopping himself to PSU this season, and we then went out and **** the bed against Minnesota during that same time frame, yep, spoke volumes.

Don't know why any fan would be more loyal to Rhule than he has been to our program.

Towel tossed.

I will be hoping we go undefeated next season.

But I'm expecting that about 6 games into the season next year, those who currently have towels "within reach" will be done.

There really aren't any more assistants to fire / blame.

Any coach that lets a Dylan Raiola get away, needs to be fired. I don't think DR leaves if they didn't fire his uncle. Geep Wade can't be that much better than Donovan Raiola. It is Dana who needs to go!
huh? the Raiola thing needed to end, which it did mostly because of his injury.. the season might have played out differently had that not happened.. I think that is fair to consider.

I am hoping Geep is a lot better than Donovan.. our line hasn't been good in a long time.

I agree with you on Dana needing to go. I guarantee he is going to screw up this last chance of his. He just can't help himself to want to pass and pass and pass some more.. because he can't call a consistent ground game.

We're on our third DC and second OC of this tenure and the solution is that we need to be on our third OC?

Who keeps making all these terrible hires?

Funny thing... I predicted a 6-6 record in 2025 and the only game I picked wrong was UCLA. I lost hope before the season. However, after game 6 I was buying back in and thinking I was damn happy my prediction would be wrong. After game 7 (Minnesota), I lost it. That was some embarassing $h!t. Rhule looked like a buffoon.

Rhule is a fraud. He's worse than Smilin Mike Riley because he acts like a tough guy but at the end of the day he's nothing more than a soft a$$ podcast bltch. He's a preacher and even he doesn't believe in his own bull$hlt.

Why did the thing Raiola thing need to end? TJ was the QB for three bad losses in a row. He does not look like a winning Big 10 QB.

He's not going anywhere for at least 2 more years so I'm "on the fence"... with the recent changes to the lines and DC I'm willing to give it another shot but I'm pessimistic until I'm shown otherwise... I will say, the '27 class looks great coming in BUT that class won't make an impact until 28/29 so unless serious improvements are made over the next year with that schedule it's gonna be a rough couple of years... Hoping he surprises me because I really want to make trips to WA/OR over the next couple of seasons and would love them to be in those games for the win

How so? What control does anyone on this board have? You going to quit cheering for the team because of Rhule? We going to start a protest outside of memorial stadium until he is removed? Genuinely curious here

The question for me is, how attractive is it for a coordinator to come to Nebraska even IF Rhule wasn’t the head coach? You would almost have to hire a guy who could bring his whole staff.

When Saban left the NFL for Bama he had already won a nattie at LSU and wasn’t a complete failure in the NFL. Most of Cig’s staff followed him to Indiana. Rhule had been out of college ball for several years and his staff from Baylor was gonzo.

NOW, Rhule pretty clearly has a warm backside. IF you listen to assistants they realize being a college assistant is a transient lifestyle but most coordinators are at the point in life where they don’t want to move every year or two.
