Genuinely excited about Colandrea.. need to see some stud linemen and rb's and that one wideout, more edge rushers, we need lots of positions to clean some house and reset the train, but I have some hope.
People need to remember, there's going to be some really good players entering the portal from 4 teams still playing. Expensive players probably but still
And this is yet another change that needs to happen... Portal shouldn't happen until the Champion is crowned... JMHO
It's not feasible. Student athlete is still a thing and most schools start their semesters in early January.
yep... I get it and would use that to an advantage in reigning this mess in... Allow the portal to open after spring ball, give teams an opportunity to really know what they have and then get kids in long before fall... It's all just so in the moment right now, I think having a good 4-5 months post season for everyone to cool their jets would prevent 30%+ of players hitting the portal (like we're seeing now).
Or simply start the playoff earlier. No need to have a 2 month process in a 12 team playoff

I saw somewhere numbers are up. Stands to reason that its probably inevitable as long as they think a bigger field will equate to more viewership. Nothing matters besides numbers which equate to more $.

Can someone explain to me ON3 ranking philosophy?
We have zero 4 stars, 7 total, and rank 12th
penn state has five 4 stars, 24 total, and rank 54th
247 has Penn state #1, and us #24 and dropping
Is it because we have a lot of bad people transferring out? Is it because we aren’t spending as much (ON3 tries to factor $’s, why I don’t know. Who cares. No salary cap
You are obviously missing the point of my sarcasm. Every year for the past ten years we have heard this same narrative in our offseason: “Wow! We are really upgrading our roster this year! Look at the guys we are getting! Just wait until next season! We will be back baby!”

I am as happy as anyone on here when we bring in quality talent. And I do indeed wish our 2026 recruiting class had been better. But my one and only point is that I am no longer going to get excited until I see it yield real results on the field.
In other words, I no longer trust any offseason hype. I will only trust actual wins on the field. You know, like beating Iowa and Minnesota for a change, which are two teams who never compete well against us in the offseason.

Agree 100%. Until I see it on the field I trust nothing at this point.
The ranking services are a mess and have been for years. It’s one of the reasons I don’t get too hung up on individual position ranks. There’s a TON of variables that make it virtually impossible to quantify a kid’s potential. IF a guy is in the top couple of spots at his position the odds are good that he’s good. Beyond that who the heck knows.
Were a messed up fanbase that needs to drink more obviously.
Dowdell was a top 10 RB coming out of HS and was on Oregon's roster as a result. He was a very effective short yardage guy in his one season at NU. He is still considered meh to several posters.
Dowdell was meh, at least for us. And just because he was used a lot in short yardage situations doesn't mean he was particularly effective. If Kentucky wanted to overpay for his services, then so be it, but he certainly wasn't worth a bidding war. EJ was the much more important guy to bring back last offseason.
I use 247 it appears to be based on portal signees and seems more logical. I think ON3 also takes into account who you lose not just who you added.
