You could be right BUT building a program in Bball can move along a bunch faster than football. You need the right guys but many fewer of them.

also to brag about isu bringing in players it’s like what did you expect. You lose 40+ to the portal and half you recruiting class. No **** you are signing players when you have like 60 spots to fill. However I think it speaks volumes to see how few wazzu players leaving for isu compared to isu to psu and same for some recruits or how few isu players wanted to stay including those not in last years 2 deeps that could’ve seen field now.
If you look at the top of the page you will see this is the football board. ISU can keep striving to be the next UConn or Gonzaga.

Enjoy it while you can. Matt Campbell leaving and taking everyone with him (the good ones anyway… the rest just left because it’s, well, Iowa State) was the death blow to Iowa State football. Back to being average in an already below average(and falling) conference for you guys.

Back on December 3 if ISU fans were given the chance to take WSU's players, recruits, and coach, and flush their own, they would have jumped at the opportunity. No doubt about it.

You haven't heard the same thing, at all. Not even close. Look at what ISU is up against in regard to NIL and revenue sharing. How is your new coach, who's done nothing in major college football, going to get high level players to come to Ames? Or hold onto unheralded recruits that become stars? And how are you going to keep your basketball coaches when elite programs come along and offer them double their current salaries? And the promise of vastly more expansive resources? They'll stay because they're loyal...........right? Isn't that what you idiots said about Cael Sanderson? Or Fred Hoiberg? Or Matt Campbell? ISU is a stepping stone. And you'll regress from there. And it will become much more apparent when revenue sharing essentially bankrupts your athletics department.

20 portal players, all looking strong in first three days. As for stepping stone, Fred did great, TJ doing better. Wrestling, Cael is great, but for first time Iowa State beat Iowa. Matt Campbell took program to a good level, but next coach will be another TJ. To a new level. Basketball has become a blue blood.
You realize you lost pretty much all of your starters & many of your 2nd stringers, right?! Your beloved clowns will blow a$$ for at least the next 2-3 years & may never recover from this. I wouldn't be surprised to see you go the Villanova route by moving to FBS football & stay D1 for other sports.
But hey......at least you can watch all those "forever cyclones" play in a real league for Penn St!

One athletic department borrowed $60 million it has to pay back, the other owes zero. Iowa State is not the first one.

One AD was smart enough to take a low-interest loan to give them some funding cushion. The other AD was too busy getting booted from youth sporting events & is now begging the state for hand-outs. Pathetic!
ISU fans are already saying next year’s team will be more talented, and that the new staff are better recruiters than the old one.
And the Nebraska fans are saying "National championship"... as usual. Even after getting obliterated in their weakling bowl game. Delusional talk is cheap, especially when that's all you've got. Both schools are thriving in that right now. But it's the offseason, so as I said... talk is cheap.
