I saw it last night. If you are a Springsteen fan, you will LOVE it. But even if you're not, it's a really good movie. Jeremy Allan White is a lock to get an Oscar nomination for his performance. I highly recommend seeing it if you are so inclined.

I can’t get into seeing JAW as Springsteen. All I think when I see previews is if Bruce is actually 5’2

Going to probably wait a bit till theaters are less crowded. I can foresee the over the top fans Bruucccccccccccing and cheering. I'd rather watch the movie in silence. Being around overzealous Bruce fans is like being at a Star Trek convention.

That wouldn't surprise me. It doesn't check any of the boxes for what makes a box office hit these days. It's a story, not a spectacle.
that's my take as well

I'd be shocked, like Rutgers being top 10 in basketball this year, shocked if this film even covers it's cost of production stateside

I’m planning on seeing it soon. Last year I saw the Bob Dylan movie “A Complete Unknown” when it came out and it was excellent. I’m sure this will be very good and I’m looking forward to it.
This is what I’d categorize as a great plane movie. Wasn’t really on my radar as something I’d like, but there it was free on a cross country flight. I very much enjoyed it. Will give the Springsteen flick a watch once it’s streaming

Sad that people can't separate their political thoughts from a movie about one of the greatest artists that was born and raised in the Garden State. Consider keeping your thoughts to yourself.

All that nonsense aside, after the success of the The River album and tour, it was a bold move for Springsteen to release what was basically a folk album about the Charles Starkweather killing spree in Nebraska and other dark subjects. It's the reverse of when Bob Dylan went electric. The movie also explores a period of isolation and depression for Springsteen, something many people and many artists deal with but are not willing to share. So, regardless of how you feel about the person, it is an interesting story about staying true to yourself and introspection that may transcend any boundaries people may feel they have. At some point in time, hopefully people will be able to find common ground in things that might bring people together for fruitful thought and discussion.

I just looked at the numbers and 'a complete unknown' didn't break 70mm domestically and totaled 140mm globally in total sales. Springsteen cost 87mm to make and NJ gave 20mm in tax incentives apparently. will be interesting to see how it does

I like Tracs, he has some very good songs on that collection

to your point on politics, it's hard when Bruce made himself incredibly political. then of course someone make a comment and it's off to the races. Bruce fans are like Greg fans, irrational to a point imho.

that said, I judge him on his music and the notion of being a Jersey guy and yet, hasn't done a single thing for Rutgers. Even when Corzine rolled the budget back to 1994 level and minority groups were hit the hardest, he didn't even consider a benefit or anything. I judge him on that.

Thanks for your reply.

Respectfully, it's not really that hard about the politics. He's a product of his upbringing, and he shares his views like other artists do such as Ted Nugent and Kid Rock. Personally, I prefer Metallica's approach--all our welcome here- we don't care who you voted for or your beliefs, we are glad you are all here together for the same thing on one night-the music. But with Bruce's music, it is a little more difficult to separate the music considering the subject matter of some of the songs. I'm fairly down the middle on political issues, and I don't get terribly moved one way or another if someone is singing something about a political topic or taking a political stance.

Has not done a single thing for Rutgers? Why single out Bruce? Why not Bruce Willis, Bon Jovi, Frank Sinatra, Queen Latifah, and the legions of other actresses, actors, musicians and artists that have done zero for Rutgers. That's more on Rutgers than it is the artists. Just like landing whale donors, Rutgers sucks at outreach and approach--the same way the then President of Rutgers approached the Home Depot founder and blew it big time.

If Rutgers was smart, they could have (and still could ) court Springsteen and Bon Jovi to get involved with either branding or doing what Va Tech did with Metallica and have a concert in SHI stadium to raise funds or NIL money. It has been suggested, but has fallen on deaf ears. Rutgers is gonna Rutgers.

Took me a while to realize that the Chicken Man in Philly was a real person.

I sure hope we blow up the Chicken School in West Lafayette tomorrow! :D

And Used Cars reminds me of growing up with . . . . used cars.
