Offensive lineman Daijon Parker is going to be a Hawkeye. A graduate transfer from Saginaw Valley State, the 6-foot-5, 300-pound Parker was previously committed to Virginia, but flipped to Iowa after an official visit to campus this past week.

This does not help us compete for a big ten championship...........

Aslong as KF keeps looking for "good people " instead of good athletes we won't even sniff Indy. Logan Jones is a great example..the dude may be a stand up guy...he wouldn't start for any other big ten team
You must not have watched his film…

Interesting that the young man said one reason he changed his mind was OL coach Barnett. That sure sounds like Barnett will be sticking around, which may mean the OC will be staying put as well. Both of those likelihoods seem most unfortunate, although Iowa definitely needs help on the OL. We can only hope Parker will provide some of that in his one year of eligibility.

I noticed the same. Of course, the notion that Barnett needs to go in order for us to make an OC change is just a theory. Who knows what’s going to happen.

Alright. He'll have one year with us. Lets hope he learns and gets up to speed quickly so he can solidify the OL next season. Welcome aboard!

Did it ever occur to you that maybe KF looks for both qualities? Probably not, it doesn’t fit your narrative.

Well see what happens going up against top 25 defenses weekend in and week out...
I mean yeah, that is the question for him. But your original post inferred he's not a good athlete. He's the epitome of a good athlete. Good size, weight and I'm not a coach but on film he can move. Looks like he walks in the door as one of the most athletic lineman on the roster.

I have no idea if he is a great person, but that is the coaches' job, to find that out in the recruiting process. Parker is literally the type of player that Iowa should be targeting in the portal - really good athlete at a lower level who wants to make an impact at a bigger school.

Wow, this take aged like milk.

Jones won the Rimington AND Iowa made it to Indy that season.

This has to be the worst take since the migration from Rivals to On3.

Wow. That didn't age well. Jones is the center on the best O-line in football, the Joe Moore Award recipients. And Jones himself wins the Rimington award as the nation's top center. Ouch . . .

To be fair to the poster, this was coming off the disappointing 2022 season where Logan Jones literally couldn't even snap the football on time. I had my doubts as well....but am glad to see that Jones put in the work to get himself to where he is today. But even he admits he wasn't very good in 2022.

Indy may be dead soon. We expand playoffs the conference title games may become relics of a bygone era.

To be fair, many posters on this board don't know what they're talking about. I trust Kirk, he knows how to develop O-lines. Barnett has proven himself also.
