    It came right when I bought the place. I think the appraisal was all pretty correct/normal but not an expert in these things. I bought the place $10k lower than the appraisal, and the tax came at $10k higher than the appraisal. My house in WA state was always $50k or so below appraisal value...

    I was turned down. I presented the appraisal from a month before, and they rejected it and kept their own assessment. They said I could fight it in court, and it was a few hundred a year, so I accepted the rejection.

    I think we have a weird, mixed mentality of arbitrary, sometimes unreasonable accountability for coaches based on bizarre heuristics and a total lack of accountability for everyone else as long as they’re good guys who were nice and are trying hard
