Enjoy it while you can, it’ll inevitable get shut down, but I hope I’m wrong. Maybe it’ll stick around a bit.

    Is todays game on Youtube?

Maybe we will all benefit from one of these youngsters who will throw it on a youtube stream, or something else along those lines (twitch, etc.) These kids are slacking....where are the (pirated) movies? Where are the (pirated) streams? cmon dudes, grow a pair. we're too old to figure it...

    Alternate Uses for the Hump

There needs to be a support group for Josh Hubbard, Jerious Norwood and whoever else was just leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the team (and coaching).

This is a pretty good primer on what's wrong with youth sports

Yep. I saw an article the other day and I wish I would have saved it. The minute private equity got involved with travel baseball (yes, private equity firms are involved in kids travel baseball....which is absolutely insane), that was the beginning of the end of the baseball we all once knew.

This is a pretty good primer on what's wrong with youth sports

That's true. If you can just run with the ball in rec soccer, you can really do whatever you want to with 85% of the kids in the league. It's kind of a mess....we aren't playing baseball, so I can't speak up on that. I give him the option of playing, and we had some long talks a couple years...

This is a pretty good primer on what's wrong with youth sports

How would I feel if the kids made it their entire lives or the parents made it the kids entire lives? I may be reading it wrong, but I took that as you asking how would I feel about parents pushing their kids to make it their life. I think pushing these kids into leagues/teams that "require"...

This is a pretty good primer on what's wrong with youth sports

It really is a shame. My son is playing soccer, golf and tennis, and he's playing them all on a rec level at the moment. If he wants to play in a tournament or two, that's fine, but we aren't going to make it his entire life. I want my kids to have a wide variety of things they enjoy, not 60...

    OT - Sleep

Soma Chems - Dream Catcher spray L-Theanine and some magnesium supplements I don't take anything, but I've gone through the gamut trying to find something that works for my wife outside of sleep meds that cause a bunch of altimeters / dementia (she's terrified of that for some reason)

OT: What was your hourly pay at the first W2 job you held?

$6 - local landscaping company in North MS. Although we weren't "technically" W-2 employees as we picked up cash from under the mat, but that was the going rate at the time (we were actually pretty pumped that we were getting $6 over the expected $5/hour that we just assumed we were getting).

    OT: Streaming service of choice

They're cracking down on that a little bit. This was THE way up until recently. They got netflix under wraps pretty good...it's tough to have in multiple areas (but it's only like $5 to get multiple places, so not the end of the world). I feel like eventually they'll have it locked down pretty good.

Not a good start to 2026 for Jackson Academy

You are correct. Just a sad deal no matter which angle you look at it from. Not sure what the answer is, but it's not getting better in its current trajectory.

Not a good start to 2026 for Jackson Academy

That's just insane....just zero parenting in lots of areas of the state, more specifically the metro area. How do you not know where your 15 year old is at 2:30 in the morning? Just sad more than anything. I want to feel sorry for the kid, then the thought of him going in someone else's house...

    OT: Streaming service of choice

We rotate based off what we are currently watching. Amazon is usually always there just due to Amazon Prime. We rotate the rest : Hulu, Disney, HBO, Apple, Netflix, etc. We usually don't have more than 3 at a time and really don't have any issues. We've debated getting rid of all of it, going...
