    Recap

After the Marshall game, I thought Ebel was a great find. Man, has better competition exposed him. The missed tackles against NW and a few tonight were obviously glaring. But almost as frustrating, his trying to jump around the block when a running play is coming right at him just creates a...

Official '26 PSU - USC game thread

I feel like Becht is diving a yard or two too soon on almost every run tonight. I'm glad he's getting positive yardage, but he's leaving some on the table.

    My Observations

I thought what I heard was one announcer say that Barry Sanders was Hansen's favorite running back - and something about Hansen watching old YouTube clips of Sanders or something given that he's not old enough to have seen Barry actually play. Then maybe that announcer asked the other if he saw...

    Week 1 Grades

I really liked Eskildsen's run after catch on his TD. Looked quick and elusive.

    Week 1 Grades

As someone mentioned in another thread, I think Martin had a few negative yardage runs late in the second half when running with the second or third team offensive line. Without those, I’m guessing his YPC would have been higher than the others (apologies for not doing the homework). Although he...

    FC/OT: Toughest schedules per ESPN…

I think Marshall has made it eminently clear in the 2027 recruiting thread that no one is allowed to believe, imply or hope that any coach might actually be able to coach (or “coach up” as he likes to mock) a team better than any other coach (especially if that coach was James Franklin). So any...

OT: You turn on the boob tube (cable) and scroll through the guide. What 5 movies make you stop and watch till the end?

Godfather I and II Bourne Identity, Supremacy and Ultimatum Fellowship, Two Towers and Return of the King Tombstone Any episode of the Civil War (Ken Burns) I totally abused the 5 choices there - apologies.

Are you saying that the $300 million number stated in the article is incorrect, or that the number is right - but Adidas overpaid because Penn State isn't worth that and would have taken less?

I've heard this song before, "If Coach X can do so much with such little talent, imagine what he can do with better players"

I agree. My comment was TIC. I just get frustrated with the notion that we really can’t expect any differentiation from the coach because it all comes down solely to how “well” recruiting is going based on ratings and how much we’re willing to spend on the portal. We apparently should just pay...

I've heard this song before, "If Coach X can do so much with such little talent, imagine what he can do with better players"

I'm so confused as to why we pay the head coach $12 mil/yr when he really can't be expected to have any impact because the only thing that affects the outcome on the field is the star ratings of the high school recruits and the NIL money spent on the portal players (except for Indiana, Texas A &...

    2027 Recruiting Thread

First off, let me say that I generally appreciate your comments and agree with a lot of what you say - specifically re: the fickleness of fans, etc. There's no doubt that for most fans what determines whether or not going for it on 4th down was a good or bad call depends almost solely on whether...

    2027 Recruiting Thread

Apologies, complete tangent coming - but man DeLuca was a disappointment last year. I can sort of understand why he may have warranted a decent check coming off of 2024 since he had some big impact plays toward the end of that season including a big pick 6 against SMU in the playoff game and...

Terry Smith on Drew Allar: “Our system wasn’t built for him.”

Not disagreeing at all. But I always feel like comparing hack with BOB to Hack under Franklin is complicated by Allen Robinson. Hack's Freshman year - he could just throw that short out/almost screen pass to Robinson who would then rip off consistent yardage, or throw it up long and let Robinson...

'26 SAG Actor Awards, Who's The Hottest

Appreciate these add-ons! I went with Wiig and Randolph in the original poll as well. But man, Eiza Gonzalez might have taken 1, 2, and 3.

OT - If you could be a historical figure…

I'm a huge Alexander the Great buff, but I'm thinking that would have been kind of a rough life always fighting and camping out most of the time (admittedly probably glamping for him). And he only made it to 32. Sinatra got an unbelievable amount of action (and we know Ava Gardner's 19 lbs...
