Oats has some flaws but he is a significantly better coach and has had consistenly better teams than us since he's been there. All while be stuck at a football school.
This is Kentucky. We will chew up choir boy coaches, we need someone with an edge that isn't afraid to step on toes.
Getting Stokes would give Pope a longer leash without winning actual games. Stokes is a big name and a draft pick but Im not convinced he is gonna lead us to the Final Four or anything. Pope needs to put a team together of upperclassmen that play his style and then he needs to go out and win...
That's pretty significant. I kinda hope Donovan just takes the job so they don't go after and get Oats or Golden. Golden at UNC or Kansas would be a nightmare. Donovan will probably be good there but he doesn't really scare me like the guys currently dominating college hoops.
That would be a tough blow. I love KSR, it's one of my main connections to the program while living out of state. I don't think he will end up being able to walk away.
I can't imagine Lloyd actually making the move. Zona is a great job with all the resources to win big, with way less scrutiny than at UNC. He might seriously consider it but in the end I think Zona will do what's necessary to keep him.
I personally really like this hire. I don't know jack crap about the assistant coach landscape but he is an experienced coach and he was an incredible NBA player who surely has good connections.
