Lincoln way east, Loyola, East st.louis

Interesting. Precisely the opposite of what one would expect from an inner city minority district. Hypothesis: A strong sports program may help counteract deleterious pressures like gangs, poverty and peer pressure to drop out. Think if that is true - instead of social programs maybe the...

Lincoln way east, Loyola, East st.louis

If one accounts for a higher dropout rate among male students, most likely In inner city or rural public schools I can see this great an imbalance being possible. I'd consider it much less likely in private snd suburban public schools.whete families are more likely to prize education and/or...

High School Football Royalty and some other schools

Sure it is. Rochester did not even play football until the 1996 season.

    Class 8A Game Talk here

Would someone else explain the term "neutral zone extended"?

    Why isn't ESL IN 8A?

I disagree. Mt. Carmel is dominating Batavia, but Batavia is no ESL. MC does not appear to have as much Speed as ESL and they are much smaller on the line. So far in seven games I've seen nothing that could have stopped them.

4A Game - All-Time Great Ken Leonard Gets the win 44-20

The history of SHG and the MVC in the last 20 years or so is a string of running clock blowouts. I sure the team knows that and the combo of that, nine straight RC blowouts and missing the steadying factor of coach Leonard's presence may have fueled some overconfidence. Especially among the...

    How good is SHG?

This was right in line with PC's other losing efforts in terms of points allowed by their opponent. SHG 's DBs are one of their strongest points as shown.by two INTs and the general ineffectiveness of PC passing. SHG's most obvious defensive problem is size but this game also demonstrated the...

    How good is SHG?

That was my point two days ago. Many teams run the spread, and especially the five wide spread that SHG runs. But for most of those teams, even with five receivers out, no more than one or at most two are serious receiving threats trusted to get open and catch the ball if t htown to them...

    How good is SHG?

This game also calls into question attempts to compare two teams without common opponents based on supposed strength of schedule and snapshot discussions based on one or two bad quarters in a game otherwise won by that team. A quarter against Jacksonville, two vs Waterloo and one against a...

Quincy ND to join the Central State 8

Nice post, welcome aboard. We had some QND guys used to post to the old SHG board before it folded. Nice guys. St. Theresa got the shaft from their conference this year and I still remember when elements of the old Capitol and original Big Twelve snuck around and screwed the Springfield...

Quincy ND to join the Central State 8

For several years prior to the CS8's expansion to ten teams, SHG had a home and home series with Montini that produced some great games and help both prepare for the playoffs

Quincy ND to join the Central State 8

So basically, 5 division games, two incoherence crossovers and two non-conference?

Quincy ND to join the Central State 8

Especially with SHG in one division and Glenwood and Rochester in the other, its a shame that there can't be a one game championship (like the Big 10), but IHSA rules and the playoffs would not permit it.
