    Mintz transfers to Christ School

Also I believe R’ville has one more year of Christ. So he will be able to play an SMC opponent one more time at the Oaks.

    Mintz transfers to Christ School

Bigger question does Coach Mintz also look into some other opportunities? Carolina Day? Close to his son, Mintz is from Polk County, has a knocked on the door with his girls team for over a decade. Definitely has the record to get some looks at other schools.

    2018 ALL SMC

Congrats to all SMC honorees! Proud to see a lot the boys get some recognition especially the R’ville bunch. But of course anytime we look at these awards/recognition we always have to look at those who maybe have been snubbed. As far as Back of the Year, I’ll concur that it goes to those who...

Pamlico vs. Murphy - 1A Championship

As for the game...if the forcast holds up, rain will definitely give an advantage to Murphy. Murphy is very big and physical. They might not beat you on the sideline but they will beat you down the middle.

Pamlico vs. Murphy - 1A Championship

Surpised it isn’t by 11....I think they draw numbers out of a hat. Criteria for picking games for A-CT: 1. How close are they too Asheville 2. The closer to Asheville higher chances of winning 3. Choose Prime numbers often.

    Your NCHSAA at its finest

Still not out to paint either side as being right or wrong. And I am not here to defend inappropriate actions but on the field there is so much going on that is not seen. If you take every play and watch it under a microscope no one is going to be perfect or a saint. And as for my personal...

    HC Opening in the SMC

Does Scooter McCoy make a return to coaching? Bryson is open and his sons have already attended there. He was at the Boys Club last I heard.

Pamlico vs. Murphy - 1A Championship

Haha Pamlico fans are probably thinking "well I thought this was a thread about our game..."

    Robbinsville @ Murphy

This is with no disrespect to Mitchell or any other but it is all about showing up for the game. Looking at common opponents and close games week by week can be fraught. We are arguing about 2nd place...what was that Ricky Bobby said about being 1st? If we played Mitchell then yes we could...

Pamlico vs. Murphy - 1A Championship

Agreed! But also not going sit here and say that we are perfect angels. We’ve all played sports and I am sure there isn’t one of us who haven’t been a part of a no-call or missed foul. I think what is most important is not to get lost in our emotions. Some adults sit here and think these kids...

    Robbinsville @ Murphy

Same could be said last year for Cherokee. It doesn’t matter how much someone can complain or theorize; Cherokee was rightfully a state champion last year and Robbinsville finished 2nd in the West this year. We can sit here and go over the what if’s but it’s not going to put us up in Durham this...

    Robbinsville @ Murphy

Very proud of the Knights. We needed a lot to go our way last night and play perfection. That is asking a lot from a young team. I look at the positives, we managed to turn a “down” year into a 4th round appearance. Saw a very young line play against superior/veteran opponents and not back down...

Advantage Shifts to the East in Small 1A Title Game

Can’t sleep on the East. Regardless of perception. Their speed is hard to replicate just like our hitting. The former Plymouth Vikings saw the SMC quite often and no matter how dominant a SMC team had been it was a dogfight come the championship.

    Wins in SMC 2010-18

Goodness I guess the conspiracy are warranted b/c of the constant nagging about Swain/Cherokee, Murphy ADM, P&J (or was it Stanley?? Haha, heard that one). The bottom line is that this conjecture spills out every single year and the reason is solely because none of us on here can definitively...
