Very few HS kids are prepared to defend at the D-1 level and even less have played much against the sophisticated type offenses you see at the D-1 level.
Just learning the different ways to defend the ball screens takes time.
Personally I wish the NCAA had leaned on SMU to dismiss Brown and begin the sanctions next year.
The players on this years team had zero to do with this and IMO it isn't fair to punish them.
Let them play for the tourney this year and let the one's with eligibility left going forward...
I've long been an advocate of going overseas to get players. No clue why it isn't done at Rutgers.
You get a better player fundamentally and with the proximity to NYC Rutgers IMO has alot to sell a kid .

Just a heads up----all 5 were suspended from the university. One of them was a preseason AA.
In the previous year we suspended our starting QB and an an NBA 1st Round Draft choice along with captain of our Hockey team which was ranked in the Top 10.
I don't see that happening...
