Good questions. I'd like him to stay also, but given the needs for PG and C, I wonder if all the stars will be able to align. I'm not convinced they will.
If I had to choose, and it were me, I'd go PG - but hopefully Iowa ends up filling both needs. I'm guessing there might be another departure (there would have to be), but time will tell.
Absolutely did. Can't confirm since none of this seems to be publicly available, but I thought read that Fran's last team had a paltry NIL budget of something like $1.5M or so. Ben's first team, I've read anywhere from $6.25 to $8-$10M (in this thread). What the accurate number is, who knows...
Agreed - doesn't necessarily have to be a big scorer (would be nice, though) but just has to be someone that can hold their own defensively and on the glass against a team like Illinois.
This is a year old, so if someone has more up to date info, please share, but Big 10 coaches salaries ranked is listed here:

McCollum is 14th out of 18 in the league as of the...
Fair point - DePaul basketball for example, can't be much of a draw in Chicago these days, I wouldn't think. There can still be NIL collectives and donors, but that's probably a hard go without much of a fan base, either.
Yeah I agree... With NIL and players being paid, it's the unfortunate reality that college sports have basically turned into a business, and our coaches also need to think like GMs. I don't like it, either.
Agreed on all of that. As big as Al was for us in those couple games in the tournament, there were too many other games where he was a non-factor. I don't necessarily WANT to see him walk out the door, but in this climate, Ben needs to spend wisely.
Stirtz is going to be a big hole to fill, no question, but he did have some help in this tournament. Do you really think Iowa gets past Florida and Nebraska this year without Alvaro, Sage and Koch? I sure don't.
