    Does the Bama Bump exist?

I've seen the debate for a long time so I went out and asked the top recruiting experts about whether a Bama bump existed in recruiting rankings. Somewhat surprisingly to me, two said it did exist. You can check out the article here...

How Mississippi State, the school can benefit from football success

Took a look at how the two Mississippi schools could benefit academically, brand reputation wise and financially from this year's historic football season. I thought Scott Stricklin had some really good thoughts on branding. He talked about how there were more popular "MSU" schools, more famous...

Maybe Dan knew what he was doing in recruiting all along?

Yeah, and part of that credit has to go to Hevesy for the O-line. I think a lot of people expected a fairly big dropoff once Gabe left, but it's been pretty staunch thus far. Having a mobile quarterback like Dak helps a lot too.

Maybe Dan knew what he was doing in recruiting all along?

If you can find an article where I've criticized his recruiting, show me.

Maybe Dan knew what he was doing in recruiting all along?

Having frequented many message boards and talked to fans, I know there has been criticism of Mississippi State's recruiting under Dan Mullen in the past. But when you look back at his recruiting classes, it's amazing the quality of play he's gotten out of two and three-star prospects. I wrote...

MSU alum hides in Saban's office, eats his snacks, proposes to gf

This has got to be one of the ballsiest proposals I've seen in a long time. A Mississippi State alum hid in Nick Saban's private bathroom, ate one of his oatmeal pies and then proposed to his girlfriend. I have no doubt Saban's office was pristine. Here's the link

Why colleges send wacky recruiting letters and the consequences of them

When I was still in Mississippi I talked to a few kids who really liked them. Obviously Hoover defensive back Marlon Humphrey really liked the "Can of Swag" stuff Geoff Collins was sending him. I think playing time and program prestige are probably the biggest factors, but the "show me love"...

It's crazy how much Southern Miss got screwed by realignment

I was talking to someone earlier this week that Southern Miss is probably the biggest loser to date in conference realignment. On the flip side, few have been as fortunate as Louisville. I'm sure there was some mishandling of opportunities, but in the end I think USM's poor TV market is what...

Why colleges send wacky recruiting letters and the consequences of them

Haven't plugged my own work in awhile and figured this story could be of some interest to y'all. I did a story about schools that send wacky/crazy recruiting letters -- Think "You're a Baller" -- and why they do it. I thought Dan Mullen had a pretty good explanation. But it also takes a look at...

    OT: Birmingham

I've only been in Birmingham for a few months, but it's much farther along than Jackson. Way more to do too. The posters above hit on a lot of the main highlights. There's great food and a good amount to do no matter what your age or situation. I think you can really enjoy Birmingham as a...

Keith Mixon is No. 11 in AL.com's A-List

I appreciate that. MSU has done very well in Alabama this year. I'm sure I'll be writing a good bit about MSU recruiting.

Keith Mixon is No. 11 in AL.com's A-List

I've never actually seen the show. I'm sure the comparison is very flattering, though.

Keith Mixon is No. 11 in AL.com's A-List

No. 11 in AL.com's countdown of the top Alabama football players is MSU commit Keith Mixon. I wrote the feature on Mixon, who is a great kid. Figured y'all might enjoy the story. His coach called him the best combo RB/WR he's seen in 22 years of coaching...
