The Brands have silenced the haters

Basch, VanDeventer, Saylor, Pyles, Chapman, Sherrill, Klingman all have been around talking wrestling with themselves and anyone who would listen for quite a long bit now. Some wrestled, some didn't. People that write for The Mat, Wrestling Media, WIN and Smalls two companies that combined have...

The Brands have silenced the haters

Nice, sums up the group I go to Nationals with thoughts. Combine that with a very underwhelming venue.

Tip of the hat to Penn State

Im well into retirement and have stood beside Tony, me being 1" shorter. I am physically bigger than Tony at about 6-7% bodyfat. What a human looks like on T.V. and in person is shocking. Side by side I dwarf Caliendo as I outweigh him by well over 35 pounds. I am as lean as him though.

Tip of the hat to Penn State

Slow down with the back and forth. Tony C weighed 210 as a high school freshman with a really good strength base, kept working through high school on his size, but he put on close to 25-30 pounds of chub weight to go with his strength. Being a collegiate heavy closer to the 285 side he had a...

Funny you talk Pax River. Spent a good bit in Lusby. John Gamble is fairly legendary and most people have Gamble stories. Powerlifting Magazine had a world renowned photo of him with veins in his trap muscles. About 2-3 years later he was the NSCA Strength Coach of the year. Funny you guys knew...

Ken Leistner DC. I knew Kens wife Kathy also, as she was honestly one of the most physically tough women around. My brother knew Ken through chiro and myself through Art Jones and Nautilus. To say Ken was well known is quite the understatement. I interned under Mike Arthur and the Huskers used...

Take it slow and you will soon be climbing the ladder. I am blessed to have been able to lift for almost 50 years with zero injuries and took 10-14 day breaks periodically to stay healthy. Definite advantage when you are in facilities almost daily anyway. Those genetic traits... We all have...

Nice totals! 1170 raw at 148 nowadays would be just shy of elite. 1982 raw 148 pounds top performers were at 1383. The 165 totals are elite by todays standards and a 480 squat 15 pounds above elite. Gear is a whole different deal. Groins and glutes are not the tears anyone wants. Being around...

So were you a 3-4-5 guy at 165 or elite? What is a "fat" 165 pounder to you? Just curious what that fat 165 pounder would weigh when skinny.

"Ive seen guys put on 30 or 40 pounds in a couple of week and we all know what that is" Your words not mine and you say something along the lines of calling b.s. on here! You are digging your ditch with that statement with a backhoe. Disparage me? I have lived in weight rooms across the U.S...

    Natty’s Roll Call

I sit within talking distance of Chuck at home meets. 1980 first nationals Howard Harris Oregon State was the outstanding wrestler. Great heavy.

    Natty’s Roll Call

I appreciate everything in your post. Conference tournaments and nationals with those we have close relationships with is about so much more than wrestling. Morning coffee, afternoon todies, nightcaps, wonderful food or horrible arena dogs. Take solace that the crowds and people have changed as...

Google Garret Downing. I've known Garrett a long time and same song and dance except Garrett kept going after the military.

Tip of the hat to Penn State

I do think there is a systemic problem in sports including wrestling. I will not accuse any one program or wrestler. Live at an event it becomes evident with oxygen conversion. Example: I supersetted Incline Bench and Krok Rows for four sets of 12 today. Takes a bit to catch your breath when...

Tip of the hat to Penn State

Okay. Where do I start. This post shows you have a complete lack of comprehension. The part about a skinny kid getting bigger, they are supposed to. Most kids come into a program knowing what weight they are going to wrestle at give or take a weight class, but it is known. Lets take 165 and that...
