    Bill Walton Dead At 71

He truly loved the game like no other. Bill personally felt like he destroyed the NBA in San Diego. This when he signed with the San Diego Clippers and rarely played a 1/4 of a full season. San Diego Clippers attendance suffered and they eventually moved to Los Angeles. Walton put the blame...

    Bill Walton Dead At 71

A San Diego legend. He was Mr. San Diego. Riding his bike all over San Diego...building outdoor basketball and volleyball courts at the beach...playing the Bongos for a Grateful Dead cover band locally... .attending concerts at Humphreys By The Bay. It is very well documented about his love...

    Mag to BYU

I feel the same way. Everything has changed in College Basketball...But I wish the best for him. He is one hell of a player. I am still in shock that he chose BYU over the Aztec...but it is what it is.

    Osobor

I am real surprised that the Aztecs have not recruited Osofar more at this point. Maybe we don't have the money he is looking for. But still a little odd, Coach Dutcher says he is looking for more player, preferably a big forward. Osofar fits that description and he is a good one.

Apparently Mahaney is on visit as we speak.

    Maybe...It should be factored in.

Apparently Mahaney is on visit as we speak.

Mahoney choice will be interesting. A California kid, who loves California. A NorCal guy who also loves Socal. He has very strong ties to San Diego. One of his best friends is Miles Byrd (who is also from Nor Cal) who plays for San Diego State. I know nothing about which way he is leaning...

    Lamont Butler

I will be watching Kentucky often this season. By the way, the Aztecs are going to be very interesting this year. A little different look than previous years. 2 young 7 footers and a 6-11 center with a year of experience. A 7 footer who showed up out of nowhere via Africa. 7 footer who is...

    Lamont Butler

I am OK with your comments and questions...Here are my thoughts (and remember it is just my opinion as a big basketball fan that played College Basketball on 2 levels but not D1)... What is a good free throw shooter and what is a great free throw shooter? Yes, Lamont is 67.5 free throw shooter...

    Lamont Butler

I agree somewhat with this, but not for the reason some might think. Lamont's shot (Called "The Shot") was the biggest shot in Aztec History for sure. But some might not understand..."The Shot" was bigger than life. Until Steve Fisher came aboard 20 years ago, we were nothing. I am 70 years...

    Lamont Butler

You will find out in time that it is all true. Now on free throws I did some checking. I remember at one point this season Lamont was 6-21 from the line...He finished the season 57-86. So it appears that Lamont went 51-75 after his horrible start. So he shot free throws at about 71 percent...

    Lamont Butler

Here is a good description for you older basketball fans... Lamont Butlers game reminds me a lot like former Indiana guard Quinn Buckner. Although Butler has a little on the ball offensively than Quinn did.

    Lamont Butler

72 percent IMO is good, but definatley not great. He started this around 29 per cent thru his approximate first 10 games. It was in his head. He shot free throws very well the rest of the season to raise his percentage to 59 percent. Maybe some math major can figure what percent he shot...

    Lamont Butler

As a 30 year Aztec Season tickets holder that has seen almost all of Lamonts games, here is what you are getting. -A big bodies strong defender. Non stop pressure D for 40 minutes. -A great team player. -A good rebounding guard. -Passes well, drives to the hoop well and finishes down low...

    Lamont Butler

Just a heads up. Lamont is not a bad free throw shooter. He started last season in a horrible free throw slump thru the first 10 games or so. He recovered to shoot his normal clip down the stretch. To see Lamont's normal free throw shooting I would check his first 3 years as an Aztec.
