I used to live in Sylva and Whittier at one time. Great area. When I lived in Whittier the casino was being built. The house I sold is worth 3x as much today. I never would have left but couldn't get a full time job teaching at the time. It's a great area to live/retire.

These salaries are the very top of the spear. Most Head Coaches make nowhere near this. Most coaches get 11 month pay if they're lucky. Some places you have to beg for that even though you work 12 months per year and countless hours. Anyway, so much people don't know unless you're actually in it.

The problem is housing around the Cherokee area. Great facilities, great people too. I competed against them many times when I coached at SM.

Smith is open every other year. Supposedly it is a terrible place to work. That's what I've always been told.

Most definitely! The QB coming back from JHR was Huge for them. I think they'll be really competitive as long as Coach has help. The athletes are there to be really good. Can't do it alone though. The travel for them in the new conference is a big deal too. NCHSAA doesn't care about any of that...

The new HC is Currituck former HC so there's that too. Martin doesn't really have the resources to compete in 2/3A either. Finding assistant coaches is a massive issue there. Among other issues too.

As a former SMHS coach, I would love that job. Great facilities and good people at Cherokee. Tough to get in though and housing costs are really bad.

Decent for McDowell is getting 4-5 wins. They have the facilities but have never been able to get it going more than a year or two. Another issue for this job along with many others in the mountains will be housing. It's so devestated up there and affordable housing was already a major problem...

CC could do a lot worse than getting Coach K. He's a proven winner.

Yep. There is a massive difference in a public charter school and a public school with limited boundaries and no choice of the students they educate. Massive. But never fear, I'm sure Corvian will reload and be back next year. With Chambers open they may get some transfers from them to help.

Congrats to WC! They played great and shut down 71st mighty rushing attack. I was pulling for 71st but it wasn't meant to be. I don't know if there will ever be another title brought back to The Ville. In the new realignment I believe it will be even harder to break the cycle of Charlotte...

WC has the speed to compete but so did everyone 71st has rolled in the playoffs. I'm really thinking the size and physical play of 71st will get it done in the end. 71st by a TD or two as they take over in the 2nd half. Everyone knows what 71st is doing but stopping it is another story.
